An all-new stand-alone from New York Times best-selling author Julia Kent

It all started with the wrong Help Wanted ad. Of course it did.

I'm a professional fluffer. It's not what you think. I stage homes for a living. Real estate agents love me, and my work stands on its own merits.

Sigh. Get your mind out of the gutter. Go ahead. Laugh. I'll wait.

See? That's the problem. My career has used the term "fluffer" for decades. I didn't even know there was a more...lascivious definition of the term.

Until it was too late.

The ad for a "professional fluffer" on Craigslist seemed like divine intervention. My last unemployment check was in the bank. I was desperate. Rent was due. The ad said cash paid at the end of the day. The perfect job!

Staging homes means showing your best angle. The same principle applies in making a certain kind of movie. Turns out a "fluffer" doesn't arrange decorative pillows on a couch.

They arrange other soft, round-ish objects.

The job isn't hard. Er, I mean, it is - it's about being hard. Or, well...helping other people to be hard.

Oh, man....

And that's the other problem. A man. No, not one of the stars on the movie set. Will Lotham - my high school crush. The owner of the house where we're filming. Illegally. In a vacation rental.

By the time the cops show up, what I thought was just a great house staging gig turned into a nightmare involving pictures of me with an undressed star, Will rescuing me from an arrest, and a humiliating lesson in my own naivete.

My job turned out to be so much harder than I expected. But you know what's easier than I ever imagined?

Having all my dreams come true.

Fluffy is that. Fluffy. I adore Erin Mallon and she was awesome. The story about wrong place, but maybe the right time. A second chance that didn’t actually have a first chance, but the feelings did. The misunderstandings and how people believe what they want without taking the people into consideration. Yes, it might sound a little much, but Julia Kent handled these characters with a kind of authenticity I didn’t expect. A sweetness and also a touch of rawness.

The attraction is lovely. It’s forward, but reserved. The book isn’t steamy, it focuses on the heroine and the people in a way that isn’t too much.

And I love that fluffy and fluffer takes on several meanings. A very good book for me.

Fluffy is a hilarious slow burn, second chance-ish romcom. I had several laugh out loud moments while listening to this one and it was fun from start to finish. Erin Mallon's narration is absolutely perfect and her comedic timing and delivery are second to none. She voiced all the characters so wonderfully that I had no problem distinguishing between them and I am always impressed by both her female and male voices.

I'm probably in the minority here, but as much as I enjoyed Will, Mallory, and all the supporting characters, I didn't love them. The humor was great, but became repetitive and a little too silly for me as the book progressed. I also felt like Mallory's inner monologue/stream of consciousness was too detailed and distracting. It was confusing and often made me forget what the original point was. I definitely think that readers/listeners would have benefited from having some chapters in Will's POV, since he seemed to run hot, then cold, and then inferno, depending on the situation. He was OK as far as romance heroes go, but the warm fuzzies and swoony moments were unfortunately missing for me.

Mallory also confused me, because she was supposedly this incredibly smart young woman who made her own choices regardless of what others thought, etc, but she never did anything in the book to back this up. She constantly ran away from uncomfortable situations and even after she decided not to care about the opinions of others, she still didn't stand up for herself. Instead, her friends and Will did it. I think I just wanted her to blossom and come into her own, the same way Rayelyn did.

Overall, Mallory and Will were cute together and I did love the John Hughes feel of the shy nerd and big man on campus falling for each other, but the proclamations of love seemed premature since they really didn't know each other at all as adults. This was still a very funny listen and I am curious to see how Perky's story unfolds next.

Mallory stages houses so when she sees an ad on Craigslist for a fluffer, she immediately answers the ad. Fluffer is a term that has been used in staging for years, little does she know that it has another definition. When she gets to the house she’s clueless that she’s on a porn set. As soon as she figures it out the police arrive to arrest everyone. Who should show up but Mallory’s high school crush Will whose parents own the house. Julia Kent brings the perfect amount of steam and humor. Mallory and Will have a chemistry that’s been simmering since high school and now is off the charts. I enjoyed seeing the geeky girl end up with the jock. Erin Mallon did an amazing job with narration as always.

I truly enjoyed this book from page one to the end. Julia Kent has a special gift for writing humorous books. She tells a story very well. Erin Mallon likewise is a gifted narrator. You will laugh throughout this book and enjoy Erin’s wonderful way of delivering the story with inflection and humor.

Hilarious Fun

It’s got a couple of slow spots, but the eggplant mis-text makes up for it. I giggled for an hour.
If you are angsty about going to a high school reunion, don’t read this. If you want reasons to miss a reunion, there are some here. But it’s a definite HEA, just perfect for the holidays (and tuning out stress).
Very explicit sex scenes, so find you earbuds first.

Seriously, I feel like I could listen to the first 3 chapters over and over again and still laugh the ENTIRE time! I dont think I have ever been more happy to have my own office than I was while listening to Fluffy! I laughed so much that I had tears running down my face and my stomach hurt! Who needs crunches when you can listen to this? I'm convinced all the laughing was way more of a workout... Just sayin.... The characters and the situations that they find themselves in are so much fun that I wish I had them in my real life! I could definitely benefit from having someone around to "Fluff" up my life on a regular basis!

The narration couldn't be more perfect! Erin is absolutely amazing with he ability to take the humor to the next level! Her different voices brought every scene to the next level!

It took a long time to go somewhere very fast. The beginning of the story was very interesting good premise however it transitions to your typical rom-com... no turns nor twist nor addition of anything special anything special. It was as the character described, a John Hughes ending

Good, not Great

way too much inner dialogue for me. Her friends are very extra and very intrusive and she needs to own her life. she needs to own her life and her embarrassing moments just seem like constant back luck. I cannot!!! Not my fave!
Erin Mallon was awesome as always. I don't think I'd been able to read a book with this much inner dialogue, I'm glad Erin did it for me.

Too much inner dialogue!!

A humorous look at “misunderstandings” and the “what might have beens”! I would read this author again. And listen to this narrator again, even though I have to speed things up for my own preference!

Enjoyable!
