Resumen del Editor

From unrelenting action to intense emotion, from high-stakes drama to breakneck pacing, New York Times best-selling author Suzanne Brockmann is a novelist who does it all. Flashpoint is an exciting thriller about men and women operating where agents of the US government cannot, where America's most ruthless enemies thrive - and where every step you take just might be your last.

Jimmy Nash has already lived two lives - and he can't talk about either of them. Formerly an operative of a top secret government agency, he has found a new job with a shadowy company called Troubleshooters Inc. Created by a former Navy SEAL, Troubleshooters Inc. helps anyone in desperate need - which provides a perfect cover for its other, more perilous objective: covert special operations.

Now Nash and a quickly assembled team of expert operators have come to the earthquake-ravaged country of Kazbekistan in the guise of relief workers. There amid the dust and death, in a land of bloodred sunsets and ancient blood feuds, they must track down a missing laptop computer that may hold secrets vital to national security.

To get it done, Nash does what he does best: break every rule in the book and manipulate those who can help him get what he needs. But this time Nash may have met his match in Tess Bailey, a Troubleshooters operative with all the right instincts - and zero field experience. The chemistry between them is immediate - and potentially explosive. Now these two professionals must play out their dangerous games in the world's most dangerous place, cut off from their own government, cutting deals with people they can't trust, and guarding forbidden passions that threaten to compromise their crucial mission.

A full-throttle adventure teamed with heated emotion, Flashpoint proves that Suzanne Brockmann can spin suspense unlike any other author working today.

Steamy Story

I don’t know how a story about fighting in a foreign land can be steamy but Suzanne Brockman did it. Great easy listen.

Another great installment in The Troubleshooters

If you're unfamiliar with The Troubleshooters, it would be fine to start with this one, but embracing the entire series from the beginning is really the way to go. Flashpoint is complex, scary, informative, and wickedly hot. This time we're in Kazbekistan, and the primary characters are Jimmy Nash and Tess Bailey. But as she always does, Ms. Brockmann weaves other characters' stories into her main plot line, and we spend time with several members of the Troubleshooters' Team and watch team leader Lawrence Decker encounter the beautiful but tragic Sophia Ghaffari for the first time. Patrick Lawylor and Melanie Ewbank do their normal pitch-perfect work. None of these wonderful books ends on a cliff-hanger, but Ms. Brockmann's world is so rich and complex that one is compelled to track down the next volume as quickly as possible. I for one hope the Troubleshooter world goes on forever.

Good, just different.

I was disappointed at first because the characters I've come to love in the Troubleshooters series are barely mentioned. It didn't take me long to become vested in these new characters though and love them too. I'm now looking forward to reading these new guys' stories. I gave the performance only four stars this time where I usually give them five, not because they weren't good, but because they read this one differently than they've read the previous books in this series. It was little things like pronouncing names differently than they previously had and giving Tom a new accent. (Tom and Cosmo do appear briefly in this book) they were still good, just different. That pretty much sums this book up, good, just different from the previous books.

Action and Romance in K-stan

Tom Paoletti is turning away business at his new company, Troubleshooters Inc., and is recruiting experienced employees as fast as possible. Lawrence Decker, Diego “Jimmy” Nash, and Tess Bailey have quit the Agency, and have the skills to go into Kazbekistan as earthquake relief workers. They find they are just one team searching for the dead terrorist leader’s laptop.
The country in turmoil; the espionage; the team dynamics; Sofia Gaffari; and the personal relationships between the team make for a great story.
Lawlor does a great job of narration.
Ewbank is ok, and a good complement to Lawlor.

Feels Disconnected From the Series, but wait...

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes - the whole series

Who was your favorite character and why?

In just this book, taken separately from the rest of the series, I really liked Decker. However he's one of the characters that I feel Suzanne didn't do justice to by the time he gets his HEA in a subsequent book

What three words best describe Patrick Lawlor and Melanie Ewbank ’s voice?

Suzanne Brockmann's Troubleshooters? lol

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

All of this series are

Any additional comments?

This book almost feels like it belongs to a different series than the previous ones. In retrospect it's because this is the first time we see Troubleshooters Inc as the foundation for the mission as opposed to the Navy or a coinciding personal mission. I wasn't sure I liked it at first, and it has much less romance than the other books, but in the series it holds its own and Nash and Tess even get more character development as the series continues.

Both heroes are Jerks!

I’ve enjoyed the Troubleshooters series overall but from the very 1st time we met Sam Starrett, I just couldn’t like him. I don’t feel like Suzanne did enough to redeem him &make him worthy of Alyssa’s love. Now, after their story has wrapped up we launch another story where the hero (Jimmy)is a jerk & it is completely unbelievable that the woman (Tess) would fall in love w/him. In lust, absolutely, but I don’t see much to love.

On top of that, we are presented w/another man (Decker) who seems to be the much better catch when he is 1st introduced but he ends up being a jerk also. He feels bad about it afterwards & beats himself up the rest of the book, which really isn’t any more attractive than Jimmy being a jerk w/out regrets. His love interest (Sophia) lived thru h*ll & I can see why she behaved as she did, but it wasn’t very attractive either. Maybe I’ve just listened to too many of these books in a row & I’m jaded, but it seems like Suzanne’s characters are a touch too flawed to suit my tastes. Ymmv!
