2 Stories, One Great Book

I have come to completely enjoy the Anna Pigeon series. She is hero, smart, impulsive, full of flaws and makes a great character. Barbara Rosenblat IS Anna Pigeon -- the perfect voice.

There are two different storylines in this book and both had my full attention. Whichever storyline -- I wanted to hear more and wanted to get back to the other storyline.

The characters are as important as the plot, and this was the best of her other books. And the other good books were excellent.

The winner of "most improbable plot" in the series

I enjoy this series. I enjoyed this book. But it is an out-of-left-field sort of story line, especially because it is part of a series of books that is normally grounded and reallity-based. Not a BAD book, mind you. Well written, as usual, and read well, as usual. Predictable as far as who done what, albeit exactly what the culprit did is ... well ... odd. Just a peculiar book in a good seriese.

My favorite flaw protagonist! I so enjoy the personality of Anna pigeon, the authors ability to incorporate our national parks into her mysteries. I have looked forward to all of her books. I especially enjoyed the way she incorporated 2 mysteries in one

Flashback is another great listen!

I love Anna Pidgeon. She's just so, well, so normal! She loves, she fears, she runs from emotional ties, she's curious & once she gets her teeth into something, she just can't stop picking at it. This adventure is a little different in that the Civil War history of the Park is interwoven with the present through letters & flashbacks as Anna pursues the Park's ghosts while she works as an underpaid Park Ranger.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

I wouldn't say on the edge of my eat but it did keep me very interested. I really liked how the 2 stories were separate but entwined.

What about Barbara Rosenblat’s performance did you like?

She does an above average job

Good story. Held my attention, and I could not wait to pick it up and continue reading. Indication of a good read.

The Present Reflects the Past

Anna is in Florida on an island where a civil war prison was built and the Lincoln conspiracy’s are imprisoned. Her ancestor was the wife of the fort’s commander. Anna is the most human character in the genre. A great series.

I love the two story lines in this one!

Nevada Barr introduced two story lines for this flashback. Captivating on all accords. Great narrator as well, that Barbara Rosenblatt!

Fantastic! Richly descriptive and exciting storyline

Nevada Barr has brought to life an area of American History that I’d somehow never learned much about in my school years. Her descriptive details of the Florida Key location and the buildings of Fort Jefferson with her amazing ability of making the reader feel like they’re walking(climbing, jumping and running!)right along side her! The narrator, Barbara Rosenblatt, is superb as always, added to the excitement, with her ability to seemingly BECOME the character(s) & kept me on the edge of my chair & occasionally having to remind myself to breathe! A few times I actually laughed out loud which for me is not all that common while I’m listening to a book.
