The past year has been hell on Savannah. Not only did her boyfriend dump her on the side of the road - literally - but her best friend, Wes, decided to graduate early. The person he becomes in college is more confusing. No matter what she tells herself, she can't get over the thought of another girl having a piece of him that she'll never have.

Wes has been in love with Savannah since childhood. Trouble is she's never seen him as anything more than a friend. He's never been brave enough to push those boundaries. He views college as an opportunity to finally move on. However, their continued close relationship makes moving on difficult, especially since Savannah has no idea she broke his heart.

With her own graduation day approaching, Savannah decides she doesn't want to be a virgin when she gets to college. Turning to Wes to solve this problem seems sensible. After all, she trusts him more than anyone. Only she isn't prepared for what her request unleashes - either from him or in herself.

Cute Teeny-Bopper Romance

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Considering the relatively short length of the book, I think listening to this story was time well spent. The meaty material at the end was satisfying but the build up to that point was a bit tedious, insipid even in the pacing. The book, overall, reminded me of something I'd have lapped up at 13 or 14 years old. Maybe even 15. Too bad I'm twice that age now. I kind of wanted something more intense. Something deeper to the story. To end on a positive note, the oral-scenes were super hot. Best part of the book. Had dreams that night. Great dreams. TY author!

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I would not have told the story using third person narration. I found it pretty distracting.

Have you listened to any of Jem Matzan’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not listening to his other narrations before.

Could you see Firsts being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

This story (and variations with much the same set-up) has been done so many times in Hollywood, I don't see a unique reason to adapt this particular retelling. If I did, it would star Dakota Fanning & Eddie Redmayne.

I quite enjoyed the author's interview at the end.

Slow start. Took a while to warm up. In my opinion it's for a younger group. Not a bad listen. I received this in exchange for my honest review.

This story is cute, funny, serious and HOT all wrapped up in one story. I loved everything about this audible, it will be listened to often.

This is a great young adult friends to lovers romance. It is well written and well told. The storylines are interesting and engrossing from start to end. The characters are complex and well developed. Wesley and Savannah have been best friends since childhood, Wesley has developed deeper feeling for her, would love to be more than friends but hasn’t acted on it because he does not think she feels the same and he does not want to ruin their friendship. Wesley is such a nice guy but Savannah is clueless about his real feelings but sometimes you do not see what is right in front of you until it isn’t there anymore. I highly recommend this is beautiful story, there is drama, angst, some sweet moments, funny ones and lots of good loving. Great epilogue too. Rosalie Stanton, thank you for this great story!

I listened to the Audible edition, Jem Matzan is a wonderful narrator and voice performer. She brings the characters to life, gives each their own voice and personality and lots of heart. She switches characters flawlessly and keeps the story in a perfect flow. Does an awesome job with the accents too. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for the great listen🎧

Firsts

Friends to lovers romance, slow build and slow in general at times. Worth it in the end though. Happy for these two characters. Good narration.

Awesome love story!

Wow! I love it! Highly recommend! The narrator made the story even better. I enjoy everything about this story. The progression of the main characters were well written and I didn’t feel rush as the two were becoming friends to lover.
