Resumen del Editor

Izzie Lefevre was the newest investigator for the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit when she first came to Recondito, a coastal city that's been shrouded in mystery and legend for centuries. Local law enforcement had requested the Bureau's assistance in hunting a sword-wielding serial killer who'd left a dozen mutilated bodies in his wake. Patrick Tevake was a local homicide detective assigned to the taskforce, and together he and Izzie managed to track down and stop the killer before he claimed another victim.

Five years later, Izzie and Patrick remain haunted by what the killer said before he fell in a hail of gunfire. Izzie's ancestors were "mambos", voodoo priestesses who claimed to communicate with the dead and protect the faithful from evil spirits. Patrick's Polynesian great uncle told stories of Recondito's supernatural menaces that lurk in flame and shadow. The killer's last words have brought up a past both Izzie and Patrick thought they'd long since left behind, and neither has been able to shake the feeling that their case was never completely solved.

Great Story, Epic Narration, Bring on a Sequel

This was a great story. Love the characters. The narration is top notch. This book was recommended by a friend and I am so glad I found it. Highly recommended.

Interesting Concept, What Was That Ending

The ending wasn’t an ending. Didn’t answer anything and just ended. RC was amazing as always though.

Bray saves the day.

This book was worth reading and worth the credit spent. The characters were of depth and the storyline was interesting. I am left wondering if their will be another, I assume there will be, but do not see anything recent. R.C Bray is the main strength of this book. The reason I even gave it a second look. His depth as a narrator really lends credibility to this book.

surprisingly well crafted

Well first off I was not expecting a great story however I was shocked at how good the story developed and the narration was superb. There is a sequel but it is only in paperback the title is Firewalkers a Condito Novel. Will wait for audio for a bit but don't know of I can wait..... leaves you hanging off a cliff.

Ridiculous jumps…

This book becomes really ridiculous as you go further through it. Spoilers ahead…

Becomes another stupid Zombie book 3/4 of the way except that they are able to function and walk even if their brain has been removed in an autopsy. They just don’t like loud discordant music and can’t cross running water. Then they attribute everything to a highest power or another dimension and declare that beliefs of voodoo involve these creatures and trying to explain them to people before modern science.

Absolutely ridiculous and I’m only going to finish the epilogue (where I am now) because of the narrator, who is one of my favorite 3 in the audiobook world
