I've wanted Andrea since the moment I saw her.

But she's human. I'm drakoni. The only way I'll stay sane and not lose myself to the madness that's swept over my people is if I keep my mental walls strong. I have to give up everything that makes me a dragon. That means no telepathy, no fire breathing, and no battle form.

I certainly can't take a mate. Andrea can't be mine.

When her brother escapes the fort, though, she needs help tracking him down. That means I'll be alone with her, breathing in her sweet scent, and it may be too much for my control.

What happens if I give in to my dragon? Will I take her as my mate...or tear her throat out?

Contains mature themes.

I really enjoyed this listen and the way the plot unfolded had me feeling multiple emotions. I love the payoff for always hearing how smelly and dirty forts are

Great story

I liked how there was more of the males point of view where it made more sense. overall I thought it was good. but the ending was really short .... sad about that.

so where's number 7

This book was my fav of all to this point. So much depth. There is joy and sorrow. Real issues for post apocalypse survivors. Plus a feel good happy ever after. Love Dixon and her narrator team. Don’t miss out on this one.

Loved this book!

Liam. He is delightful. This is by far my favorite out of the fire blood series

Favorite out of the Fireblood dragon series

Book six is my second least favorite one of the series. Did her Dragon mate even like her? He did not provide her with anything. He didn't bring her food, water, shelter, not even a piece of lint. She was eating moldy food while he was perfectly capable of hunting for fresh meat. But chose not to because he wasn't hungry. I guess I like the fantasy aspect of these books because the dragons really care about protecting and providing for their female. This particular Dragon spent way too much time in his human form because he really didn't think about her basic needs as long as he was okay.
I still recommend the series overall. I've been entertained by almost all of them.

Romance level felt really flat.

Liam is such a great hero, so different from the drakoni characters we’ve seen up until this point. Andrea is gritty, tough and tender, struggling with parenting her younger brother and her growing connection to Liam. The post-apocalyptic world is further fleshed out in this book in fascinating ways, and significant new developments are set up for the series as a whole.

Best of the series!

I always love ruby's books, but her fireblood dragon series is top notch. the voice actors are also perfection. 🥰

Actually such a breath of fresh air after the struggle of Gwen’s book. Worth the wait!

I am always waiting for authors to include plague. It is endemic to the western United States and while not typically found in rats, it can be, as well as domestic animals. It’s been almost a decade since a man survived the three forms (bubonic, septicemic, pneumonic) of plague after a cat bite. He had so many antibiotics pumped into him, and he still lost fingers. Of course, plague would spread as rats became abundantly uncontrolled and moved through areas where carriers of the fleas that carry Y. pestis would have a rat buffet.

Humans are filthy and plague would likely have hit sooner than 7 years into the fall of modern living, although there are many things that have failed in this series that wouldn’t only 7 in. I have socks and undergarments older than 7 years…made at the time of this series, when items were better made. Also, more people would have survived the plague…it is asinine to have two colonies of people not recognize plague expressed in the lymph nodes. Statistically, there would be at least one, if not more, healthcare professionals in each colony. Sure, I doubt there would be someone making agar and growing it out…but there is a me somewhere in every other grouping of people who can use a microscope without power and can make a basic agar.

I am glad the plot had a story arc and more character development than the last book, which will be returned. I just listened to it yesterday and haven’t gotten around to it. (I read the heavy stuff and listen to romance and fluff. I won’t remember this in a year, as I listen to a book a day, so it will be another fun listen…whereas Dostoyevsky I read, it has meat and sticks. I won’t be reading the greats every year!)

Yersinia pestis strikes at last!
