Resumen del Editor

At age 47, a mother of two, Debbie Moderow was not your average musher in the Iditarod, but that's where she found herself when, less than 200 miles from the finish line, her dogs decided they didn't want to run anymore. After all her preparation, after all the careful management of her team, and after their running so well for over a week, the huskies balked. But the sting of not completing the race after coming so far was nothing compared to the disappointment Moderow felt in having lost touch with her dogs.

Fast into the Night is the gripping story of Moderow's journeys along the Iditarod trail with her team of spunky huskies: Taiga and Su, Piney and Creek, Nacho and Zeppy, Juliet and the headstrong leader, Kanga. The first failed attempt crushed Moderow's confidence, but after reconnecting with her dogs she returned and ventured again to Nome, pushing through injuries, hallucinations, epic storms, flipped sleds, and clashing personalities, both human and canine. And she prevailed.

A Different Version of Mushing

Interesting to see one (!) woman’s perspective on how to guide and motivate a dog team. There are leadership lessons here.

Average to good book, three and a half stars

This was an interesting story about the Iditarod dog sled race in Alaska. The author, Debbie Clarke Moderow, was the musher and author of the book telling her story about her preparation and participation in this race. It was interesting enough that I listened to the entire book. I would recommend it but not heartily. I would give it an above average rating of about a 3.5 or so. This is a book that I would have been better off to get at a library than to purchase.

Good read, great story

Starts maybe just a little bit slow, but really enjoyed it. Good details of what it’s like to run the Iditarod race, as well as what led her to entering it.

Worth every word!

A grand insight into the world and life of running and living with dogs in Alaska. Debbie sure does love her dogs and thier journey too the finish line is intertwined tangibly and universally.

Excellent listening!

An engrossing and open true story of a woman’s Iditarod journey with her dogs. The only thing that left me a tiny bit unsatisfied wasn’t that the author never revealed what caused her sled dogs to ‘shut down’ from time to time. Maybe she never discovered the answer to that question…?
