Resumen del Editor

When the apocalypse happens only one thing matters...family.

From the author of the wildly successful debut novel Family Reunion, P. Mark DeBryan, comes a new and terrifying Apocalypse Family novel.

The South African flu had put the fear of God into the world. But the press and the government assured one and all that a revolutionary nanovaccine developed by Dr. Julian Ruegg had stopped the outbreak in its tracks.

The vaccine had stopped the flu, yes. But two weeks later a strange and deadly side effect became apparent, a side effect worse than the flu - far, far worse. Jay Brant, mother of two and ex-FBI fingerprint analyst, is trying to survive and get back to her kids as society unravels around her. Nothing matters more than getting her son Mark and his wife to safety in West Virginia, and then rescuing her daughter Auddy, who lives in South Carolina.

Jay had put her husband on a plane bound for his family reunion in Seattle, then set off on a road trip to the eastern panhandle of West Virginia. Her job requires the trip once every two weeks, and the four-hour drive and overnight stay are completely routine.

As the day unfolds, she begins to realize that this trip will be anything but routine.

Great follow up by Mark DeBryan.

I enjoyed Mark DeBrian's followup to family reunion. We got to meet Jay and experience the chaos on the East Coast.

the characters are human

This is the story of a family separated by a disease which turns people into flesh eating monsters.  Though not zombies in the sense they are still alive, but dangerous none-the-less.  It mainly follows Jay, the mother of the besieged family trying to make their way back to each other, but also many other families and their travails.

It is a typical zombie novel in the sense that everyone is constantly on guard, society has fallen into violence and chaos.  Gangs form and break apart, sex slaves and brutality, but also decent groups of people trying to hold the best of mankind together.

Jay is a likable character as she is a mom faced with the worst mankind can offer, intent on finding and protecting her family – if she can find them.  She is resourceful, capable and discovers a badass quality she didn’t know she possessed.  Why drive a car when a Harley is just more cool.

Family Reunion is suspenseful and full of zombie killing action.  You just don’t know when you’ll get your next meal or even a decent night’s sleep.  Without the hope of finding her family, Jay would lose her will to survive.

The story is performed by Eric A. Shelman who does a good job.  He adds to the action and voices the many female characters well with plenty of differentiation to make it easy to know who is speaking.

Though this is book two in a series of unknown length, it can be read as a stand alone novel.  It clearly leaves the door open for the sequel, but ends well enough to stand by itself.

If you enjoy zombie action novels, you should give this one a try.  What sets this one apart from the many, many out there, is that the characters are human, flawed and sometimes just lucky enough to stay alive.  A badass mom who is going to get her family back together in the face of impossible odds makes for a fun ride.

excellent book and excellent narration

This is a great second book in the series. The fact that Eric A. Shelman did the narration just made it that much better. I enjoyed J's story as we follow her to find her family which never seems to go as planned, but hey it's the ZA. Happy I came across P. Mark DeBryan's Family Reunion series and I can't wait for the next book in the series.

Intense

Loved it! Strong female protagonist. Graphic violence, some language, some sex. Hope to see a book three.

Pretty close to being the best sequel ever!

I absolutely loved this chapter of the Bryant family story! And the narration of this book was on point! Not that the first book wasn’t narrated well, but in comparison this one was much better! I’m fully engrossed with the story line and this family’s struggle. I really enjoyed the first book because I was living in WA state when I read it, which made the story really come to life even more because I knew the places and area. So it was easy to actually see the story and the layout. Some books are set in places or areas that don’t give you a reference point or something familiar to help bring the story to life. And for me that makes it a lot harder to have that “movie in your head” playing while you’re reading it. Both of these books gave me all that and more. I have to say at first I was upset all these great characters were being killed. But after some thought I actually liked it more. The first book was very safe, no one that was all that important (and by important I mean you weren’t really given the chance to get attached to the characters that died or were killed.) So in comparison I like this approach better. I also enjoyed how in this book the reader was able to hear the thoughts and viewpoints of more characters. In the first book you only knew what people in the family and those that were practically family were thinking So it was a really nice twist. I honestly cannot say enough good things about this book I absolutely loved it! My only sadness is that now I’m dying to find out how the story ends! 😔 Hopefully I won’t have to wait too long!

Great Addition to Series

What made the experience of listening to Family Reunion J the most enjoyable?

Though it did take off from Book 1 it was still a great read. It was one of those books that was hard to put down once you started. Cann't wait until the next in the series is added to Audible.

J...Family Reunion

I loved this book and this series. I. read the book and left a review but the audible was very good. Eric Shelman did the narrative and did an excellent job. I can't wait until the next book comes out to find out how Ryan and J along with the rest of the family are doing.
