Resumen del Editor

The home was top-notch New Jersey suburban. The living room was Martha Stewart. The basement was Legos...and blood.

For sports agent Myron Bolitar, the disappearance of a man he once competed against was bringing back memories, of the sport he and Greg Downing had both played and the woman they both loved. Now, among the stars, the wanna-bes, the gamblers, and the groupies, Myron is unraveling the strange, violent ride of a sports hero gone wrong, and coming face-to-face with a past he can't relive, and a present he may not survive.

In novels that crackle with wit and suspense, Edgar Award winner Harlan Coben has created one of the most fascinating and complex heroes in suspense fiction - Myron Bolitar - a hotheaded, tenderhearted sports agent who grows more and more engaging and unpredictable with each appearance.

Just getting greater

I like all of Coben’s books that I’ve read, but I believe this was the best one.

Accent

It’s a good story, kept me guessing and I generally like the performance, but Esmerelda’s accent is awful.

another Coben winner and thriller

I love Coben's books because (1) he keeps you turning pages to find answer to the mystery and (2) he makes you care about the characters -- the human element in his books always so strong. This book has added interest of the sports/basketball angle.

I'm hooked on this series

I'd give 4.5 overall only because I guessed the killer but just a little before the great reveal. You get enough info about the characters to feel invested in them though I have to say my crush is on "Win."

Good, not great

If I had read/listened to Fade Away before the other Bolitar novels this review would undoubtedly have been better. Although I unwittingly began reading/listening to the most recent Bolitar novel first (I was unaware that it was a recurring series) and it’s memorable performance by Steven Weber, it may have unfairly changed my perception of how Myron & Win should have been portrayed. All that aside, it’s great to learn how all these recurring characters evolved over decades since the Bolitar series began. While Fade Away was a great novel, albeit slightly dated, the newer stories and performances are still superior in my opinion. Coben has yet to disappoint me in neither his novels or British based screenplays. I will now close the gap between the Mariosz performed audiobooks and those read by Weber before circling backwards to the first few Bolitar stories. I find that the stand-alone novels by Coben are always entertaining too if not just as good as this series . I’m hoping that before I complete all the Bolitar books that another one will be nearing publication. Great story, good performance and a lot of fun!

More of a Prologue than a stand alone

This book lays out the back story behind Myron's history with Jessica and the NBA, and has the usual surprise ending typical of the series, but the back story dilutes this book a bit. You have to read this book to appreciate the entire series, but it's far from the best one of the group.

Jonathan Marosz is great at reading this series. He defines the characters with his presentation.

Myron does it again! So does Wyn

Myron Bolitar is again a great character. He has the yin to his yang, Wynn, keeping him out of trouble. Great listen!
