Acerca de esta escucha
When his missionary brother renounced faith in favor of atheism, Perry Marshall was plunged into crisis and doubt. He decided: “I”m going to let science make this decision for me.” He asked: “Is the hand at the end of my arm purposeful? Or is it purposeless?” He leapt into the void of evolution and the origin of life.
He could not have begun to anticipate what he was about to discover. Living things were far more sophisticated than textbooks were saying. Nearly every cell in your body can edit its own DNA, combating random destructive copying errors, charting a path for its transformation.
Evolution 2.0 pinpoints the central mystery of biology, offering a $10 million technology prize at naturalcode.org to the first person who can solve it - staffed by judges from Harvard, Oxford, and MIT.
In this book you’ll find 70+ years of under-reported evolutionary science, including a great many women scientists whose work was sidelined and ignored...even Nobel Prizes that hint at possibilities modern science is only beginning to consider.

Throughout his distinguished and unconventional career, engineer-turned-molecular-biologist Douglas Axe has been asking the questions that much of the scientific community would rather silence. Now, he presents his conclusions in this brave and pioneering book. Axe argues that the key to understanding our origin is the "design intuition" - the innate belief held by all humans that tasks we would need knowledge to accomplish can be accomplished only by someone who has that knowledge.

Historia
When Charles Darwin finished The Origin of Species, he thought that he had explained every clue but one. Though his theory could explain many facts, Darwin knew that there was a significant event in the history of life that his theory did not explain. During this event, the "Cambrian explosion", many animals suddenly appeared in the fossil record without apparent ancestors in earlier layers of rock. In Darwin's Doubt, Stephen C. Meyer tells the story of the mystery surrounding this explosion of animal life.

A belief in free will touches nearly everything that human beings value. And yet the facts tell us that free will is an illusion.

Lee Strobel became convinced that God was outmoded. Today science is supports the conclusion that the universe was intelligently designed. Darwinism has faltered in the face of facts and hard reason. Science definitely gives faith a boost as new findings emerge about the complexity of our universe. Strobel re-examines the theories that once led him away from God. You'll encounter discoveries from cosmology, DNA research, and human consciousness that present evidence in The Case for a Creator.

Reseñas de la Crítica
“Evolution 2.0 is a remarkably meticulous dissection of the experimental evidence on evolution. Perry starts from information theory and practice; I started from research on the heart’s pacemaker, but we have come to almost identical conclusions.” (Denis Noble, fellow of the Royal Society, University of Oxford)
“Evolution 2.0 is engaging, thought provoking, and challenges us to ‘reboot’ the riddle of evolutionary biology. By re-examining Darwin, Marshall asks us to reconsider the most important question we face - what is life?” (Dr. John S. Torday, professor, Evolutionary Medicine Program, UCLA)
“It is amazing that this ‘non-biologist’ has analyzed life phenomena at the cellular and molecular levels to such depth and width by applying a wide range of available information gained by cutting-edge methodologies in life sciences.” (Dr. Kwang Jeon, editor, International Review of Cell and Molecular Biology)

Ideas worthy of deep consideration
Is it possible to reconcile God with what we see in nature? This is a hard question even for those who have given the subject a tremendous amount of thought. Perry Marshall tells us his own story of discovery searching for the real truth of evolution. Even if you disagree with his conclusions, you will find his insights and his arguments compelling. We need to get past the dogmatic psuedo religion that has grown up around Darwin's ideas. It is clear that many of Darwin's arguments were based upon what he knew at the time. These ideas need to be updated by the sciences and practices of today which provide a more nuanced and powerful picture of evolution as we understand it today. We also need to acknowledge that what we now know only raises more questions whose answers still lie beyond our reach.
I did have some minor issues with the repetition that Marshall used at the end of each chapter -- but I realize that this is a minor artifact of translating a written work into an audio book.

Excellent content!
The content discussed in this book is excellent. Perry provides some interesting answers to questions I wondered about for years but never attempted to quantify.
The presentation is a bit repetitive and the audio production is not as good as professionally produced and resulted in a lower rating, but I highly recommend this book.

Ground breaking work!
Marshall has creating nothing less than a ground breaking work on evolution and the origin of life. As expected, you will find reviews full of criticism that some of Marshall’s assertions are incorrect and that he is just another religious zealot but that is a total mischaracterization. The book “Darwin’s Doubt” has received more recognition but that work cannot compare with Evolution 2.0. Meyer’s work, though compelling, read like a science paper, I could not put down Marshall’s work. If you truly want to understand how we evolved then read this book a couple of times. Fantastic work!!!!

Absolutely worth your credit.
Don’t skip this book. This book tackles the questions about the existence that rattle around in the back of all of our minds at one point or another. This is a well thought out and thorough look at the evidence of intelligent design, and it is presented in a wonderfully understandable way.

Clear
Okay, when I saw this was written by an electrical engineer, I almost rejected it out-of-hand. But it promised to address something that has always been a question of mine about evolution. Yes, descent with modification over billions of years is undeniable. But where is the evidence that modification as natural selection occurs only through random mutations. I kept looking but never found any. The empirical evidence of change has been presented often in many books I have read but never with any evidence of random mutations. Marshall presents five alternatives, each with massive experimental evidence. At the same time he resists the temptation to go the route of many intelligent design advocates who make God the direct designer of countless trillions of modifications over 3.7 billion years of life on earth. Get the book as well for references because you will want to go beyond his presentations.
