In 1985 Davy goes missing and is never found.
In 2006 his jacket is found near where he went missing.

Told from the points of view of Davy, his brother, mother and the man accused of kidnapping him and hiding his body EVERY MOMENT SINCE weaves together the past and present (2006) until the surprising answers are finally revealed.

Most characters in EVERY MOMENT SINCE made mistakes in 1985. They carry the guilt of what ifs as a burden on their present lives and can’t move on without answers. Older brother Thadeus, who shooed Davy away from friends drinking their first beer, won’t allow himself happiness. His mom, who forced the Thadeus to take Davy with him, lives with the regret of forcing her sons to spend time together. Gordon wasn’t completely honest with police after Davy disappeared, afraid he’d look guilty. Even the police liaison knows something she hasn’t told.

EVERY MOMENT SINCE is a well-written, satisfying mystery. I wasn’t a fan of the male narrators in the audiobook. I’d rather have had Cassandra Campbell read the entire book.

Marybeth Whalen is a fan of true crime and Dateline-type shows. True crime is fascinating for me as well. Although this is a fictional story, Every Moment Since reads like an actual crime event for a little boy who disappeared over 20 years ago. Little 11-year-old Davy Melcor goes missing late one night, and there is a lot of guilt circling the small town of Wynotte, N.C. Keeping secrets can hinder a happy life, and everyone involved in Davy’s disappearance has been adversely affected. It’s tragic. The author writes of Davy’s mother: “She hadn’t appreciated how rare and fleeting it would all be, that the simplest moments were actually remarkable. She’d looked right past them, her eyes always scanning the horizon for something else.” This story will hurt your heart with great storytelling featuring a cast of ordinary characters who, combined, become an extraordinary story of loss, regret, hope, and redemption. Mediocre at best

This book was captivating just enough to get me to finish it, but I was wildly disappointed when I got to the end. Wasted credit!
