King Of Stage

I was so interested in hearing Bobby Brown's telling his own story after seeing the biopic BET produced a few years ago. Not only was it pretty spot on with the film, there was so much more that happened in his life the film could not have gone over thoroughly.

I really liked the excerpts from his children and his family including Ralph Tresvant from New Edition...read by other speakers. Bobby Brown's reading skills were not the best and he would miss a line or seemed like he was steuggling with a word or two. However after a while he seemed to get the hang of reading that book a little better. His story is harrowing and worth the moment.

Heartbreakingly enjoyable.

Before I bought this I read the reviews complaining about Bobby being the narrator and was worried. I'm here to say that this listener couldn't imagine this being read by anyone else. No one else could tell this story with the emotions and tone of Bobby Brown except Bobby Brown. He made me laugh, he made me cringe and he made me cry. If you're a fan, this is pure Bobby and you will enjoy it from start to finish.

Interesting and Eye Opening!

I was a huge fan of New Edition and Bobby Brown's music. As a teenager, I had New Edition's music on cassette, while Bobby's "Don't Be Cruel" album was the first CD I ever owned. So I did not hesitate to buy his book when it showed up in the Audible suggestions for me.

This book was very interesting and an eye opener, especially if you remember the media portraying Bobby Brown as the villain in his relationship with Whitney Houston. However, Bobby's story is an eye opener, told with raw honesty that totally makes sense when you look at their public life in hindsight.

While I prefer books that are read by the author, this book sounded as if Bobby was just reading the words in front of him, while not quite comprehending what he was reading. The awkward pauses were difficult to listen to at first, and I was unsure if I could listen to the entire book, However, I got used to it after a few chapters, and it bothered me a lot less. And as I listened further into the book, his reading seemed to get a little better. Overall, I think his story is still better told (or read) by Bobby Brown himself, than by someone else.

This book kept my attention from start to finish, and I looked forward to listening to his story during my commute to and from work every day. I really enjoyed learning about Bobby Brown's life, from his life in the projects of Boston to his rise to fame and superstardom. He has lived a really interesting life! The big stories, that I remember seeing in the news, were very interesting to hear from Bobby's point of view. I highly recommend this book to any Bobby Brown fans or biography/memoir readers out there.
