Scaron

I go out on a hunting expedition and what do I return with? An alien female. I’d toss her out, but…she’s absurdly appealing to me. The longer I allow her to live on my ship, the less I want to kill her. With a looming showdown against our enemy to prepare for, the last thing I need is a female distracting me, but I cannot stay away and I would kill to protect her.

Wyn

I’m stranded on this planet and captured by aliens who are battling against enemies that want to kill them for some healing liquid their living ship produces. How did I go from living a quiet life as a medical doctor to this? To top it off, the leader of my captors is a red-eyed, dagger-wielding male with a smirk that makes my knees weak and a kiss that sets me on fire. Is he my enemy or the best thing to ever strut into my life?

When a terrible attack calls my medical skills into use, Scaron and I must work together to save the lives of his people and defend against an enemy that shocks me to my core. Humans know this planet better than I thought and it will take a united front of allies—who I thought were dead—to escape with our lives.

Ensnared by the Alien Lord is book six in the Lords of Destra series. Each is a complete story with no cliffhangers, nor cheating, and guaranteed consent and happy endings.

This has a great ending, not only to the individual book, but to this series, it would be interesting further to be more from this author in this world, but not necessary I don’t feel like I have to have more, which is excellent. I hope you enjoy this series as much as I didthe first book does have a bonus of that first Novella at the end so you do actually get all seven books in the six that are listed.

Great ending

Epic Final

Ensnared by the Alien Lord is book 6 in the Lords of Destra series. This is the final book in the series and we see the overall story resolve for all 7 of the couples. This book is about 36-year-old, human, doctor, Wyn, and Destran Lord, Scaron. Initially, when Scaron found Wyn, he took her prisoner and put her in a cage thinking she might be working with the enemy. That was different from how the other 6 couples met and bonded. Scaron’s sola is also different from the others in that his is full of ex-criminals. I didn’t enjoy Scaron’s sola and people as much as I did the others. I liked seeing how everyone finally came together and the solas were able to reunite. I loved the surprise help they got. This series was really fun. I definitely recommend it for anyone looking for easy reads/listens. I’m sure I will listen to the whole series again in the future. As for the narration, the same narrators read all 7 of the books (0.5 -6 – 0.5 is included at the end of book 1) and I found that the male narrator was consistently really good with all of the characters that he voiced. The female was good at voicing the female main characters but wasn’t as good with her voices for the male main characters. In this book, I struggled with the female narrator voicing Scaron as carefree and easy going as he was far from that. Overall, the narration is pretty solid though. This series is my first experience with this author. I am looking forward to trying out her other series’ too. Overall, I give Ensnared by the Alien Lord 3.5 stars. I give the series overall 4.5 stars.

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💚💜💙❤️🩵
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏🌎
Character development: ☹️☺️😍😄🥰
Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Wyn - she was a medic on a mission in space with six other women when their spaceship was in trouble. They had been heading for the Clarion 4 station to evaluate the planet for a potential trade outpost. She and the other women were ejected from the starship in escape pods which landed on nearby planet. She landed alone on a planet with huge flying reptiles, near a river and she was starving, though she had a med scanner which told her which plants were non-toxic.

The Hero: Scaron - he is a Destran Lord, known for his courage in battle and his ability to wage war. He is a symbiont with a living ship called a Sola and is responsible for all the people that live aboard the ship. The enemy damaged his ship when they landed on this desolate world. He and the other leaders and their ships had all ended up in different places on the planet. Many of the Destran living ships had found each other. He ha found his brother, another Lord who is mated a human. The Brakken, the enemies of the Destra who were after the Sola’s for the Lami the ships made which they used as a drug, were not alone. The Brakken were well funded and being directed by someone else who wants to be in charge of all the Lami. Scaron thought the humans might be working with the Brakken.

The Story: Wyn hadn’t known how long she had been living alone, but one day she saw five vehicles coming towards her, like hover bikes. Five massive males wearing goggles with changing colored skin and a bunch of weapons. She thought they must be on a hunting expedition. They stopped right in front of her, the huge muscular humanoid looking man stepped in front of her. They put her on one of their vehicles, tied her hands and took off. Scaron had plans for the human and they didn’t include mating her.

This story was as good as any of the previous ones. I liked how each story in the series was completely different but furthered the overall plot of the battle between the Destran’s and the Brakken. This one had an added component when Scaron showed Wyn a communication they had uncovered which showed her employer was involved in arming and funding the Brakken because they also want the Lami that the Sola produces. The storyline was exciting and interesting.

This audiobook was told in the main characters points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Elle Sonali and Tor Thom. These are both very good narrators, I love Tor Thom’s super deep voice for the huge alien males, he is just perfect for them. Elle Sonali has a soft, feminine voice which is very pleasant, and she is very expressive and always does a great job.

Steamy alien hotness with a good story too!

I really liked that these novels were so different than what I’d been listening to. Paranormal, mystical, etc. The Alien world and characters were created with such believability and with a full range of emotions. This is a little more sexual explicit than I’m used to but those narration “scenes” were not frequent and didn’t last very long. I also really liked all the strong women and the differing strengths they brought to the story. And of course, I love a happy ending because that’s why I listen to audiobooks. To escape the crazy world and imagine an outcome that I can picture myself in. I loved the female and male narrators but when the male narrator was voicing a female and vice-versa, I really didn’t like it. I understand why they do this but I still am a little put off by it. Overall, a gem of a series and 5 stars!!

Loved the Alien storyline & world

I found it hard to stay focused; Elle’s voice needed a bit pepping up, her affect was so flat and soft, needed a fire lit under it. The storyline was ok. Tor’s narration was pretty good.

Ok

I've read/listened to this whole series and it's not bad. It's a bit simplistic, but there's unique world building and some okay (if not a little threadbare) plots.

Setup: Scaron, a Lord of Destra is out with a hunting party when he finds our mfc Wyn half naked and starving. Her ship has gone down and her escape pod has crashed on an alien planet. He takes her (as a prisoner) to his Sola - his symbiont ship - and she (the ship's pronoun) promptly downloads his brain with the English language. Great, I thought, no stupid communication-based barriers to love. Instead all that talking created a whole other kettle of fish.

Scaron is fascinated by English words and inflections, and quizzes the mfc as to why she has "yellow" hair but it’s also called blonde. And she's like [paraphrasing her ditz voice] "i dunno??? Like, we also call red haired people redheads or gingers, and brown haired people brunettes, but black haired people are just dull old black haired people, te hee." Am I being prickly or is this woman shItting me? 85% of the world has black hair. The LEAST this character could've done was make a flip comment about unfair etymology and the glaring inequities in English, or flat out say that there's racial bias hidden in our linguistics. She's an MD! She’s supposed to be intelligent.

Later our mfc finds out that an evil earth corporation is planning a genocide (on the Destrans) to obtain their natural resource (Lami). and she literally DROPS TO HER KNEES in shock and despair. LMAO. Has this author never heard of De Beers and the blood diamonds of Sierra Leone, or the Ford Co and its relationship with the Third Reich during the Holocaust, or even Monsanto and its franken-crops? Corporations love mass murder. I don't care what century this book takes place in, the mfc would have to be brain damaged to have that kind of blind faith in a corporation. The reader should've gotten a heads up that something drastic had happened, like all previously recorded human history had been lost, or humankind had evolved into saints. Instead of making an educated woman into a total idiot.

As for the rest of the book, it was rushed. The author tried to give the couple their full formulaic ‘desert island’ style love story. But, um, I think she forgot she had an entire series to close off (including reuniting all the Solas, fighting a Bracken/Human war, and creating an HEA for an ENTIRE SPECIES). This book was the same meagre 6 hours as the other books and it wasn't enough.

Slightly better than meh
