Reseñas de la Crítica

"EIGHT MINUTES, THIRTY-TWO SECONDS is a twisty and unnerving horror thriller! Scary, mind-bending and fast-paced! Brace yourself...!" (Jonathan Maberry, New York Times bestselling author of Rot & Ruin and V-Wars)

"Lightning-fast, riveting, and smart. Just try to put this book down!" (Jeanne Ryan, author of Nerve)

"It's rare to read a book that feels genuinely unique, that stands apart from the tropes and retreads; it's rarer still to peel away that book's layers of tension and tragedy to discover that it's really a beautifully-crafted story about compassion (and the consequences of losing it) and love. That's exactly what Peter Adam Salomon accomplishes with his extraordinary Eight Minutes, Thirty-Two Seconds, and I cannot recommend this book highly enough." (Lisa Morton, Bram Stoker Award-winning author and editor, President of the Horror Writers Association)

Interesting. Potential

This is the first book I’ve read/listened to by this author. There were parts of this book that I did not find very cohesive and they were a bit confusing. I had to re-listen to several parts. I never became too connected with the characters plight, and I think it’s because my mind would wander while listening. Maybe one day I’ll re-listen. I think I missed stuff.
I had a few issues with the plot, including..if the world population except 6 teenagers died quite quickly, who built the massive facility with advanced equipment and stocked it? Regardless, this was an original storyline to me and overall I’m glad I listened to it. It had potential. Unique idea.

This is the first book I’ve listened to by this narrator ( Tom Howery ). He did well with the different voices including the computer. He had a cadence that was more akin to telling a story instead of reading it.

There are no explicit sex scenes, or excessive violence. There is the very occasional swearing.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and voluntarily left this unbiased review.

Unique Science fiction novel!

This was a very interesting sci-fi novel! End of the world scenario where only 2 people are left standing. The Author has an incredible imagination & I was on the edge of my seat for the whole audio book! The narrator did a great job with a book that had to be difficult to read aloud. I would recommend this book for anyone that enjoys Sci-fi!!!

Great book!

I liked everything about this book. The story line displays teenage angst to the ultimate degree! The originality of the plot line kept me engaged, and the conclusion felt satisfying after what seemed to be a hopeless situation.

I would recommend this novel to any teenager or adult. It would make an exciting movie!

Beware of the medicine

This was a very cool audiobook. It definitely had a lot working for it, the premise, the characters, the backstory fit together very nicely and intrigue me. However, I think it was just missing a little something. Perhaps an execution, perhaps on the performance or maybe a combination of the two I just can’t quite put my finger on it. I got really involved in this universe quite quickly and I think I wanted more description. At times during this audiobook I just felt like my mind was getting pulled away from the story when I should’ve been totally enthralled. I really enjoyed the twists and turns along the way but wanted more. I like the mystery surrounding our characters but thought that with more knowledge of where they came from and who they were it would’ve really helped out the backstory, however I understand why they were written the way they were. I found myself liking parts of the performances and then just shrugging my shoulders and others. It was almost as if you could tell what mood the narrator was while they were performing. At times they were very enthusiastic and at others it felt like they were just reading a phonebook. The audio quality was great, and was easy to listen to. This was overall a great story and I really liked what it had going for it. I just felt like it was missing something and perhaps that’s a good thing because there could be a spin off book? I was provided a free copy of this audiobook from the author, narrator or publisher in exchange for an honest review from audiobook Boom

Sci-Fi apocalypse

The blurb sounded really interesting and it was this that made me pick this audiobook. It is creative but I did find it confusing at times and slow paced in others. There are good parts and I wanted more of those.
I have listened to this narrator before and thought he was great but I felt he did not suit this audiobook.

Tense and gripping and heartbreakingly deep

WHOA. Just, whoa. I just finished this book and honestly don't know how to write a review for it. It's so full of everything, of life and death and sorrow and joy and despair and hope.

It's deeply philosophical, and subversive of the common YA tropes--plucky teenagers fighting to save a world the adults destroyed. In this book, it's something of the reverse. It starts with M and L, the last people on earth, and their mysterious need to die almost every day for eight minutes and thirty-two seconds, and when they're revived, they remember just a little bit more of the lives of six teenagers leading up to the end of the world. The story unfolds in increasing desperation in both flashbacks of other lives and the decreasing gap in times between "deaths" in the present. It's a love story. And a story of despair and tenacity against all odds. I was on the edge of my seat right until the very last lines.

The narration was absolutely fantastic as well. The narrator did such an excellent job at the unintentionally uncooperative AI that I wanted to clobber the AI's servers every time the characters hit an informational wall. Really great job.

What a home run. If you like deep and deeply emotional stories that speak to issues humanity faces, definitely pick this one up.

A new take on the Apocalypse...

First of all: "This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review."

It's hard to come up with a completely novel approach to the end of the world. But that is exactly what the author has done with Eight Minutes, Thirty-Two Seconds. The story takes place after an apocalypse has occurred, and through flashbacks we try to learn how it was that it happened. The plot is very intriguing, and the author pulls it off nicely.

The narrator of the audiobook does a good job of intensifying the intense situations, and though not perfect, mostly adds to the story without detracting from it.

Overall a very interesting read which I would highly recommend.

Very Intriguing Story

I must say, the idea and plot behind this story took some real creativity, I can't think of any others that are similar to it. The book itself really held my attention. I had so many wild guesses to what was actually happening, that I had to keep listening to see if any of them were remotely close (none were haha!). A lot of the details regarding the scene of where everything is taking place is left to the listener's imagination to create and render; which just adds to the curiosity and intrigue of the story. The only negative aspect of this book for me was the narrator. He is not the worst nor the best and did a good job overall, but could have used a little more change in tone and more colorful reading. I would recommend this book to anyone young or old that enjoys this genre for a good fairly quick listen, and a one of a kind story.
