Witness the disturbing true story of serial killer and infamous body snatcher Ed Gein.

Inside this chilling true crime audiobook, you’ll peel back the curtain on one of the most twisted and psychopathic men to ever stalk America. Known as the Butcher of Plainfield and the Plainfield Ghoul, his gut-wrenching crimes have fascinated and terrified people ever since his shocking arrest.

Now, you’ll be taken on a journey to unmask his crimes, from his gruesome killings to his horrific love of building decorations from human body parts. Told with gritty detail and drawing on real reports and testimonies, this true crime biography expertly retraces Gein’s life, illuminating his troubled upbringing and family life, his grisly killings, and the police investigation that shocked the nation.

Ed Gein may not have the highest kill count or the darkest backstory, but his corrupted psyche has earned him a place among the most sinister serial killers to ever live. Perfect for true crime fans and anybody who wants to peer into the dark and terrible things that seemingly “ordinary” people are capable of, Ed Gein: The True Crime Story of the Gruesome Serial Killer and Body Snatcher is a frightening listen that will stick with you long after you finish.

It needed to be longer. I enjoyed it though. I’ve been interested in Ed Gein since a friend told me about him.

It was good.

This was just ok. I feel like I have more questions than when I started it. I received a free copy and left my honest review

Terribly written for starters. Does not belong on the shelf in the library with "In Cold Blood," or " Helter Skelter." Written to be scary, not written to present what happened and to let the actions, the outcomes be what terrifies. Instead, we get made up interpretations, without reverence to police reports, or interviews, of what investigators were actually feeling. A waste of the credit. The reader, Jeff Bower, does his best to fit the writer's intention - he's fine. But from the first paragraphs, I found myself arguing with the author about style, word selection, and useless exaggerated discussions about how terrifying everything is. It's a "killing 90-minutes setting beside a campfire swatting mosquitoes" kind of story.

If you're looking for the complete story of Ed Gein; keep looking. The book is so brief, that it never even gives you the chance to dig into the crimes Gein committed, much less any real insight into how he became one of the most famous killers in American history.

Poorly researched to the point that even the name of the county where Gein lived and committed these crimes is misidentifed. Additionally, while there is speculation that Gein may have been involved in additional crimes he was never convicted of, the author shows their lack of research when they identify Gein as possibly involved in other disappearances "in the area", despite the fact that several of them would have been a multiple hour drive from Gein's home.

If you're really interested in Gein, skip this one and just read/listen to Deviant.
