A modern-day London actor is hurled back to 1803, where a love that defies the centuries awaits.

For Kipling Summerfield, the glamour of Hollywood is becoming a distant memory. After losing the role of a lifetime, he’s forced to take a lesser job as a historical reenactor on England’s Guilford Island. But a sudden storm changes everything, casting him into the ocean—and into the care of a mysterious lighthouse keeper. Kip assumes everyone he meets and the island’s historical setting are just an elaborate performance—until he meets the captivating Amelia Archibald, whose quiet strength feels too real, making him question everything about Guilford.

Amelia has spent her life as an unimportant poor relation and is now trapped by her late grandfather’s will on an island she loathes because of her great fear of the sea. When Kip stumbles into her world, his strange ideas and warm presence are both a disruption and an unexpected light.

As Kip and Amelia work to save Guilford Island, an undeniable connection blooms between them. But when Kip uncovers the truth about where—or when—he is, he must make an impossible choice: rise to meet the expectations of Amelia’s world and build a life worthy of her station or walk away from the love that has redefined his very existence.

A great set up and adherence to the times. I loved the dialog and wished we could have seen more of the supporting characters.

Great time travel romance

This is an exceptional book, I absolutely loved it! Sarah Eden does an amazing job blending the two time periods. Kip is hilarious as our contemporary hero, while being kind, protective, and highly capable. Amelia is an amazing regency FMC, intelligent, strong, and yet vulnerable. Their relationship is sweet and natural. The townsfolk are charming and heartwarming. The writing style beautiful and gripping. Just brilliant.

Highly highly recommended!

Content:
There is no foul language, sex, or violence. The romance is limited to a few chaste kisses. There is no mention of faith or God.

So good!!

I loved the dual POV (and narration)! In book 1 our FMC travelled forward, this time our MMC travelled backward. The jarring differences and having to navigate them would be so hard and was very fun exploring. We see the Storm Tides world expand and it was interesting comparing the attitudes of Guilford village to Loftstone village, although there are many decades between the stories that could account for some of that. Several other islands were mentioned that also have these strange Storm Tides. I’m hoping those were hints at where future stories will take place!

Unique and Beautiful

I truly enjoyed every aspect of this book. Sarah Edan has a remarkable talent for storytelling that captivates readers from

Loved the story

I found the opening of the book a little bit drawing since it starts off in a modern Hollywood setting but it's it's a perfectly for the rest of the story. the story feels immersive and detailed without being bogged down like an encyclopedia. Sarah M Eden is one of my favorit because even though she's written like more than 80 bucks none of her romances ever feel recycled or a repeat unless it's very intentional to the story ( example Forget Me Not versus Charming Artemis). The characters feel alive and unique and you're rooting for them the whole time.

oooo it's another good one

The first book in this series, “The Tides of Time” was so good that I got this second book without hesitation. Unfortunately, it was not a great follow up to the first book. The protagonist was just ridiculously thick to the point of me wanting to reach out and knock some sense into him. The romance felt forced and rushed. The townspeople were dear, and some of the secondary characters were solid, but this book and the storyline was a miss for me.

Not her best work

Not certain if the story was that much worse or the narration diminished it but it was a horribly disappointing follow on to the first book.

Needed MaryJane Wells
