Truth in Comedy

When his stand-up comedienne girlfriend goes missing, Adam finds himself in a mysterious comedy of errors in an attempt to find her. Set in Brighton, UK, Dying is Easy gives a glimpse into the local amateur stand-up world and features a charmingly flawed protagonist with a penchant for unfiltered truths and unintentionally pissing people off.

K.J. Heritage’s characters are full-bodied and sympathetic; I personally identified with Adam’s struggle with anxiety, never knowing for sure if he’s overreacting, becoming borderline obsessive during an unresolved crises. I can only imagine just how much that anxiety is intensified when also cognitively functioning on the Autism spectrum. This is not the first book I’ve read by Mr. Heritage, and he makes character building and narrative flow appear effortless.

Karl Jenkinson’s narration/performance is absolutely brilliant. Karl brings multiple characters to life with ease, both male and female (a feat that is not always easily attainable). Karl has the comedic timing and acting chops to do any project justice, especially with a long list of characters to decipher and 10+ hours running time!

I thoroughly enjoyed this title and would definitely recommend this listen to any mystery or comedy fan, especially those who love dark humor.

Just when you think you know what's going to happen, another curve ball. Story was enhanced by narration and made the book enjoyable.

really a very deep mystery with a lot of twists and turns. a speech pathologist would absolutely love this with the references to Asperger's and autism.

A comedy of errors with a dash of mystery

Adam Hanson is in love and is a comedian with a problem. In a fit of drunken rage, Adam verbally confronts Jozee Jackson. When she disappears shortly afterward, he discovers some hidden facts about Jozee. The mystery begins when someone using Jozee’s phone begins to communicate with Adam. Adam is a rare character that is raw, transparent, and is a disaster waiting to happen given his luck!

The author, K.J. Heritage weaves a daring mystery with a dash of sarcastic wit and richly vivid descriptions. Heritage creates characters that keep the storyline moving forward smoothly. The plot twists were interesting and mostly unexpected. Each character is fully developed with characteristics that blend into the story smoothly. The dialog was flawless and flowed smoothly giving an authentic feel to it. The sarcastic wit of the comedian (Adam) was satisfying and at times elicited a chuckle.

The narrator, Karl Jenkinson gives a strong performance. Each character has a unique voice that fits perfectly into the story. Jenkinson portrays each character fully and with the correct tone. Jenkinson is a skilled and talented narrator.

I enjoyed this book and look forward to more by K.J. Heritage. Comedic and mystery combined in an intriguing and edge of your seat storyline.

Edge of your Seat Humor and Intrigue

Dying is easy is a rollercoaster ride of intricate plot twist that never stop. The characters are realistic and quirky and might remind you of people you know. I enjoyed the story and trying to guess who was lying vs who was telling the truth. The one thing that stands out is get to know who your dating because sometimes the skeletons in the closet can be deadly. I received this book for free upon my request and I am voluntarily leaving this honest unbiased review of my own volition. Give this book a listen you will laugh all the while sitting on the edge of your seat waiting for the next shoe to drop.
