Can a vulnerable human become a dragon warrior’s greatest treasure?

For generations, Drakkar’s people have chosen to live alone, only coming together for brief periods, but when he joins the battle raging across his home planet, he finds an unexpected family in a set of misfit warriors. After the war ends, he chooses to cut all ties to his past and accompany his new brothers to a backwater planet.

He knows he is not suited for a mate and a family, but as he watches his brothers choose human brides, he finds himself envying those relationships. Then a vulnerable female awakens his protective instincts. He is determined to save her — and her precious child - even though he knows he cannot keep them.

Kitty has a history of foolish decisions, but now that she has a child to protect she is determined to change her ways. She refuses to let the arrogant dragon-like warrior who rescues her become yet another mistake. But there is a hidden vulnerability behind his haughty demeanor, and once again her heart threatens to lead her astray.

Stranded in an isolated mountain cave in the middle of a blizzard, can Kitty find the courage to trust again? And can Drakkar overcome a lifetime of solitude for a chance at happiness?

I was excited to get to read/listen to the nerdy doctor-esque character in this alien series but I didnt connect with this one as much as I had wanted and thought I would. I think for me Drakkar was too awkward and caused so many miscommunications. When you bring in a kid into the mix it makes it harder. I get these aliens haven't really dealt with offspring too much but this one freaked him out about what was good for Kitty and her child, how his people don't have mates or get to know their children. I get that was the point but I just didnt connect as well with this story as the others so far. I would put this one in 3/4 (Callum is #1, Benjar is #2, Drakkar is #3, and Artek is #4) listed in order of my favorites (most is #1).

Narration was solid in this one from both narrators. I could feel the inner turmoil and being confused about everything. As things progressed I felt their budding attraction and love and lust. I loved the play on the anatomy of Drakkar and his race too haha. I felt the heartache when he like abandoned them, thinking it was what was best while he suffered. So many times I wanted to shake him silly!

And wish we could have had more flying since he is one of the only ones in this series who can. That I felt like was a missed opportunity but again this was still a good listen and am eager to continue this series with the last 3 brothers.

Lot of potential, enjoyed but didnt love
