Loved it!

This one was fun. I recommend it for Whovians and maybe for anyone with even a teeny tiny passing interest in Doctor Who. A few stories were a bit of a slog pace-wise, but even they when they were slow, they were fantastic. Each story captured that particular regeneration of the Doctor nicely (my favorite was Gaiman's story which I've read several times before in his Neil Gaiman Reader. This story loses nothing with multiple reads!) The narrator for Jodie Whittaker's was spot-on with Jodie's and Ryan's voices, which was wonderful, but that same narrator was a little aggravatingly overdone with the Southern accent character's voice (won't say the character's name or role... spoilers). If you're looking for a bit of nostalgia with beloved characters, solid storytelling, and the familiar set-up of Who episodes (Who both old and new) this is the book for you. 5 stars!

This book is misleading...

if you already own 12 stories for 12 doctors, this book is a waste of money, considering it only has one new story.
the stories themselves are great, including the one new one. but I was very disappointed to find be only the one new one.

unfortunate

I only listened to about 10 minutes before i couldn't take any more . you can say i didn't give it a chance but it was so full of goofy alien names and cliche time travel references. starts in early 20th century and there were references to velcro ( although we won't know what that is for half a century or so) and Harry Potter . this isn't Doctor Who but an unfortunate caricature of what was once a classic sci-fi show. my plan calls for 1 credit per month so i couldn't justify wasting it on this . Thank you Audible for having a return policy .

A Mixed Bag With Some Good Moments

The first thing you need to know about this set is that most of the stories are recycled from the 50th anniversary novellas put out a few years ago. If you've shopped Doctor Who books recently, you've probably seen them: TARDIS blue background with the profile of the Doctor featured in them on the cover. If you already have those books, buying this anthology is probably a waste of your time and money.

Second, this really is a mixed bag. There's some really good stories here ("The Nameless City" (Second Doctor) by Michael Scott, "The Roots of Evil" (Fourth Doctor) by Philip Reeve, "Spore" (Eighth Doctor) by Alex Scarrow, "Nothing O'Clock" (Eleventh Doctor) by Neil Gaiman, and "Lights Out" (Twelfth Doctor) by Holly Black) and then there are some stories that never live up to the promise of their premise ("A Big Hand for the Doctor" (First Doctor) by Eoin Colfer, "The Ripple Effect" (Seventh Doctor) by Marorie Blackman, and "The Mystery of the Haunted Cottage" (Tenth Doctor) by Derek Landy, for example). The rest of the stories are enjoyable adventures, but how much you enjoy them may depend on how much you like the Doctor in question.

If you're a huge Doctor Who fan who loves all the Doctors, there's probably enough here to make it worth picking up. New fans may want to give this one a pass.
