Resumen del Editor

where's the ending ?

The book was a great read - until the end. I know this is part of a series, but the first book was complete in itself. This one ends with even the author seeming not to know where the protagonist is. It was an endingthat was as unsatisfactory as the rest of the book was good. I will read the next volume, but not because the ending inspired me to keep reading.

One of my favorites!

Part two of my favourite book trilogy. Expertly narrated! Can't recommend this series strong enough.

The story is getting better

In Divided Allegiance, Elizabeth Moon has continued the story started with the Sheepfarmer's Daughter. The author has advanced and improved the world-building and character development started in the first book, and I ended up enjoying Divided Allegiance much more than I did the Sheepfarmer’s Daughter. Mainly it is because I found the action, the quest, and the adventure contained in this book much more exciting than the duties of a junior soldier, which were the center of the first book. Divided Allegiance is a solid 4 Stars, even though the fate of Pax at the end of the book is depressing.

I listened to the audible version and Jennifer Van Dyck did an excellent job telling the story. I am moving on to the Oath of Gold.

The feels

The narration was on point and every character had a distinct voice, despite many written characters.

The story was compelling and I had to keep listening.

Spoilers:

Tears, feels, and general frustration/confusion felt alongside Paks has left me needing to buy more credits before my next one is available.

Elizabeth Moon, thank you. I love you and I hate you. This series has brought me a new view and understanding of not only paladins but fantasy in general.

narrator is good but bad at pronunciations

narrator really should have done at least a small amount of research to pronounce the names as the author would. other than that it is a great story and well read.

A Palidan Candidate

Really is my favorite of the 3 book series. We get to see Paks attain her dream, then at no fault of her own , both literally and figuratively looses everything. Moon s skill at writing is exceptional and shows her skill at maneuvering Paks thru her rise and fall while we feel her pain and terror as well as her great happiness Don't miss this one.

Slow start but an incredible finish

A little slow at first with much of the focus on exposition and self-contained adventures. But the last 10-15 chapters are phenomenal. Paks is presented as an endearing character whose struggles are thought out and well conveyed. The world Moon creates is developed much further than in the first novel. And the interactions of the wide cast of characters are sincere and enjoyable to read of.

Though the reading is tougher with more characters this time around, the narrator feels generally stiff and over- or under-inflective, for example: Messinian who sounds far too comedic and makes this part of the book not as enjoyable.

Let the story continue.

This book is very much like the first. An old story written in a different age of writing. Strong charter development but still fairly linear. There is a glaring plot hole that feels like it was kinda taped over when they finally addressed it but it only itches at you if you are as tuned in to detail as I am.
