A Bright New Dawn is just around the corner for thousands of tiny nomes when they move into the ruined buildings of an abandoned quarry. Or is it?

Soon strange things begin to happen. Like the tops of puddles growing hard and cold, and the water coming down from the sky in frozen bits. Then humans appear and they really mess everything up. The quarry is to be re-opened, and the nomes must fight to defend their new home. But how long will they be able to keep the humans at bay - even with the help of the monster Jekub?

Slapstick romp laced with some sharp, satirical barbs

A well-written comic fantasy that blends an off-beat but believable plot with strong but quirky characters, lots of entertaining adventures and a liberal dose of humour . . . Highly recommended

Part 2 of the series. Don’t know why I waited so long to listen to this.

great even out of order

I accidentally listened to wings -book 3 first, but that didn't spoil things much. It's a great story, I wish there was a book 4!

Loved it! Relatable characters continue hilariously through this unfolding fantasy adventure.

In a great story by it's own merit, Stephen Briggs is a one man cast with an innate sense of how Pratchett is to be read. Book 2 finds our pint sized heroes facing human sized obstacles requiring dynamic personal growth to continue this fantastic journey. The story is fun, well paced and as with many by Pratchett, the heroes will need to learn a little more about themselves and the world to reach the end. Perhaps it's no bad thing if to some degree the listener experiences this as well.
