Resumen del Editor

They hunted her to the furthest corner of the world and did everything they could to kill her.

But she survived.

Elisabeth lost everything that night. Everything except her life. A life she’s using to hunt the mercenaries who want her dead. There’s only one problem: the wolf inside her has gone quiet, leaving this she-wolf to rely solely on her wits and killer instinct to survive. Standing in the way of her bloody vengeance is a war-torn 18th century countryside ravaged by a vampiric plague and home to a host of unspeakable horrors stalking the night.

When you fight evil with evil, there can only be one outcome....

A shifter’s lust for revenge puts her on a collision course with a band of witchfinders in this novel from acclaimed author Matt Serafini. Devil’s Row combines occult horror and dark fantasy and places it all in the universe first explored in Feral: A Novel of Werewolf Horror.

“If George R. R. Martin wrote Underworld.” (Somer Canon, author of Killer Chronicles)

Witch hunters witches and werewolves oh my

The narration is well done the storyline is good in and of itself. I like the pints of views and how it switches around from the witch hunters to the werewolves it adds a lot of depth to the story. Very heavy on the sex scenes which just cheapens the story and moves it more towards the erotic and less towards the horror genre. Hunted becomes the hunter!

“Devil’s Row” is a prequel to book one. The tale takes us back to the eighteenth-century and the origins of the werewolf Elizabeth. While the telling of Elizabeth was interesting and perked up the story, the tale of the hunters did not. The eighteenth-century Old English dialogue, discussions of the hunters, and the troubles they experienced left me wanting. In all honesty, I enjoyed the first book more. This volume does explain a lot and fills in the required (?) background but I got lost in the telling. On the other hand, Elizabeth’s revenge for the loss of her alpha lover was quite exciting. Fantastic

I loved the story and narration. The world opened up with additional lore, more monsters and men just as terrible. The story moved along at a fast pace, the gore and fornication were both plentiful. The narrator really threw herself into the story and kept you on the edge of your seat.
Looking forward to more in the future.

Awesome and unique werewolf tale

Awesome and unique stand-alone werewolf tale by Matt Serafini that operates in the world of FERAL (though back in the Middle Ages). I loved this book and especially the engaged narration by Ramona Masters.

Solid Historic Werewolf Horror Story

I loved Feral, and jumped at the opportunity to experience this and while it wasn't quite as strong its still an entertaining story that provides some background information about the werewolves and the rest of the horrific beasties that inhabit the world first encountered in Feral. The framing of the story is interesting as it illustrates a collision course between an angry werewolf seeking revenge and a group of hunters who are looking for her to finish her off. The juxtaposition of her being a fierce loner driven by revenge and them as normal humans in a world where they're not top of the food chain is interesting to see as they head towards one another. Along the way there's some cool events and interactions with other characters of the supernatural and non-supernatural variety and that builds towards a frenetic, satisfying conclusion.

The narrator does a great job of bringing the female werewolf to life, while at the same time doesn't take away from the tale of the witch hunters.

Devil's Row

I had a bit of a love/hate with this book. I enjoyed the story and narration for the most part. I liked the background story for one of the main characters in "Feral". The plot wasn't disjointed in any way, but at times I found myself not identifying with any particular character and therefore I didn't always have a vested interest in the survival of the individuals. I enjoy the brutal nature of the characters in the book and the imagery of the world around them. Matt Serafini paints a desolate picture of survival very well. All in all, I would give this a 3.5/5

Overall good listen

I think this was a well written book. For me, I prefer book one. Different time periods. My preference is modern day stories. I can see how people who like the back story of how things came to be would prefer book two. The narrator was amazing. She added so much to the story. Even though this wasn’t my favorite, it was still a good listen.

A wee too creature fantasy-ish for me

Thanks to Matt for the audible review copy. I dug Feral so was chomping at the bit to sink my teeth into this one. (Sorry, I couldn’t help myself...)

*While the audiobook was given to me for free at my request, I am voluntarily leaving this honest review.*
BAM! Disclaimer nailed!

Unfortunately, this one really didn’t work for me. I don’t recall "a certain element" in the first Feral and I like werewolf stories generally, but pretty much hate werewolf stories that have "a certain element" in them. For whatever reason when those two things combine it throws me for a loop. Too bad too, because I was really looking forward to this one. Oh well, can’t win them all.

This is probably better than I give it credit for but I just couldn’t get into it and it’s pretty much my fault for not reading the synopsis (which I hardly ever read). Maybe, my "certain element" spoilers aren’t really spoilers after all…

On the plus side, the narration was very good and kept me engaged when otherwise I may have thrown in the towel sooner due to the introduction of the a "certain element"
