Reeling from the sudden death of his teenage son, our narrator receives a letter from an attorney: he has just inherited a plot of land from his estranged grandfather. As a biracial Black man struggling with the many facets of his identity, he’s now the owner of a former plantation passed down by the men on his white mother’s side of the family.

Well told story

The narrator had a way of pulling you in with pitch, timber, volume, breath…The writer did a brilliant job of blurring the lines of the story in past/present.

Mesmerizing

I listened to it in one day. From the opening sentence, I was hooked. The writing, the performance - INCREDIBLE! Tear and laugh inducing. As the observer, I didn't always know if I was up, down, sideways, or diagonal. A true delight in every sense of the word.

Amazing Narrator and Reader

I loved how genuine and authentic the narrator was and how well suited the reader was to match him. A truly wild journey, both heartbreaking and unbelievable, completely worth the ride.
