Very well written

So I purchased this audible because the reviews had said that it was well written and unpredictable. It really was. The character development was great the performance of each character was also fantastic. I especially liked the fact that everything I thought was gonna happen didn’t. Highly recommend

You only think you know your family..,

I really enjoyed this new book from E C Diskin. This is a stand alone with a very creative plot. Throughout the story you keep thinking how predictable the ending will be, guess again! This is a story of a complicated and rather dysfunctional family.
The protagonist (Brooklyn) is very likable. She is an aspiring actress living in NYC. When her father is injured in a fall, Brooklyn returns home.
Throughout the book you get glimpses into her past. Her sister who the truth seems to elude, her religious parents, her unusual adoption and the teasing she got because she was different.
Meanwhile a visiting actor is shot through his father's kitchen window. And then Brooklyn is accused of killing her father.
The town has a lot to hide and the retiring sheriff is the best friend of Brooklyn 's father.
Somehow all of these disjointed events come together in this story for a rather surprising ending.
The three narrators worked very well together. Excellent job!

Excellent

This was a great story, not on going, not boring, kept me wanting more, I really enjoyed it.
And pretty clean to which is nice

Liked, not loved

The story was very decent. Basically small town, lies, secrets, truth comes out etc. I tend to like stories like that though. Some people may have found it predictable, I did not. It had multiple narrators, some better than others. I did not like the narrator who played the main character Brooklyn, however I did like the narrator who played Ginny. There were male characters as well. It only seemed odd when the male characters were playing the female characters from their standpoint. It didn’t make sense to me to do that when there were so many different narrators. I’m not sure why I did not “love“ this book. Overall it was just OK and I liked the ending. I recommend it as a light read, not as an amazing novel.

Gripping story!!

I loved this book! Brilliant plot and beautifully narrated! Strong well developed characters! So many secrets and lies! The truth will schock you!! I highly recommend this book!

Unique storyline that kept me guessing.

I loved that I couldn't figure out what would happen next. I read so much that this is rare. The performances were really good, and I appreciate their talent.

Which is harder to hear? The truth hurts and lies hurt. For this family everything they knew is about to change

After reading some of the reviews I wasn’t sure about this book but I’m so glad I listened to it. I highly recommend it! The story and the narration was excellent!

Loved this one!

Pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this! I hate wasting my time and money on audiobooks, so I’ve grown more critical as time goes on. But this one was a gem. The author seems to recognize that each person has in this world had their own story. If we first seek to understand, we can learn to forgive, even if we don’t understand. People, their different upbringings, and the situations life puts them in makes life complex. For that reason, I appreciated that the author, mostly through the voice of Brooklyn, offered grace to the imperfect people in her life. Great story, lots of lessons. Narration (voice of Brooklyn) became a bit annoying and whiny at times, but I’ve heard worse. :)
