She is resigned to a life supporting her Mama and siblings. When Lord Derriford arrives in the neighbourhood, she soon notices his awkwardness in dealing with the fairer sex and determines to try and make him more comfortable.

She discovers there is rather more to him than meets the eye.

Really enjoyed this one

Likable characters. No filler internal thoughts. Good pacing. Interesting side characters. I’ll continue to look for more of this author’s work.

character development, flow of the story, values

I enjoyed this gentle story, have read it more than once. Well written, it draws you in, shows complexity in characters that might be dismissed as insignificant, except for the ways they work together, demonstrating compassion, generosity, and ingenuity in blocking selfish predators from harming others.

Very Enjoyable Traditional Regency Romance

I like this author’s books. They are in the “traditional” mode, like Austen and Heyer, so no heat. The story and characters are interesting. I very much like Helen Taylor’s narration. She always does an excellent job.
