Resumen del Editor

San Francisco attorney Mike Webster does not lose medical-malpractice cases. But his stellar reputation and faith are put to the test when he agrees to defend Dr. Johanna Anderson, a brilliant and beautiful psychologist. Jo is accused of failing to prevent the death of Seth Bell, a senator's son she was treating with a revolutionary technology-assisted therapy called the Mind's Eye. The controversial technique provides insights into what patients are thinking and feeling and determines whether they're telling the truth - so why didn't it detect that Seth was suicidal?

As the case unfolds, a shadowy firm, Horizon Finance, sees a golden opportunity to profit by seizing the Mind's Eye and auctioning it to intelligence services around the world. And Horizon will stop at nothing - not even murder - to succeed. As the danger escalates, Mike and Jo feel the heat of a mutual attraction. But when Mike's loyal paralegal, Val, unearths evidence that could blow the case apart, Mike realizes he stands to lose much more than just a verdict.

Unique Legal/Medical Thriller

This is one of the most unique stories I've read/listened to. This author is amazing! It's not just another legal thriller. It's also just as much a medical thriller. I felt like the author was also a psychologist. The characters are so well developed. I felt like I knew them personally. It was a really fast paced read with lots of twists and turns. Several times I found myself rewinding to see if I heard it correctly. I was blown away! This is one lawyer that needs to write full time! Imagine going to a psychologist and being placed into an FMRI machine that can also see into your mind in a way and tell if you're lying or have stress and other problems. The character in the book is able to do this, along with a little hypnosis. If this technology can cure some criminals you know it would be a big sought after item for pharmaceutical companies and even some shady characters that could use it to plant ideas in your head. But when a patient commits suicide, the blame would be pointed at the psychologist running it. This is what occurs in the book. Attorney Mike Webster is hired to defend her. I would've never guessed the outcome of this book. I'm so bad to cheat but this is one that if you cheat, it will ruin it.

If you're listening to the audiobook, you will love the narrator. He has the best voice and does the characters so well. It gives them an authentic feel.

Female voices were terrible

The narrator was fine for the male voices but truly terrible for the female ones, should’ve gotten a female. But was good otherwise.

THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE LAWYERS

OK, very intriguing premise with an inconsistent story arc but still held my interest. Alexander Cendese was very good, except for female voices, if there was anytime a second narrator was needed it is here. Some male voices were difficult to distinguish but still good Male voice. It was NOT that religious at all as another reviewer said, just an introduction to a new direction for the main character. It could have been better as I had a strong interest with the device to 'mind read' so I had higher hopes but I liked the courtroom scenes, sometimes it did not flow but overall I think it was pretty good, and may check out Rick Acker's 2 book series soon.

Interesting and entertaining Story

This was an interesting story. A legal medical suspense book. I really enjoyed the characters. There was good character development.

Story line and plot was good. I liked the twists and turns the story took. Kept you listening and wondering what was going to happen next.

Not really a romance but there was some attraction going on between Jo and Mike. There was a little bit of religion but it was not loaded down with it.

As for the narration, I enjoyed Alexander Cendense except on the female voices, he needs to work on that for sure. He has a nice reading voice.

The last hour ruins a 5 star legal suspense novel

Author Rick Acker wrote a great 8 hour legal suspense novel then ruined everything by turning the last hour into religious sermonizing and a Biblical seminar. Narration was superb.
