Intense Gruesome Details, still, Riveting story

Will March never learn to listen? Excellent interweaving of past/present/ toils and trouble. Satisfying.

Disappointing

I struggled to finish this. I felt like the writing was off and I definitely did not like the new narrator.

Interesting and unexpected plot so-so narration

I much preferred Lindy Nettleton’s narration. Sarah Nichols is ok but more flat. The narration doesn’t spoil the book. It just makes it less engaging.

get on with it can't you?

loved it because it was one of a series in a genre I enjoy. But I guess Grice 's arrogance and criticisms of March got to me . Why does she internalize what everyone says about her looks? I know how that feels personally and I guess that is why her heroism is so endearing to me. Towards the end I was thinking one way but the author's plot twists were superb!

Fascinatingly convoluted

Somewhat Stokerish in style. Switch in narrator to her guardian was a little irritating, as "he" used a method of representing dialogue that I dislike, and that I had found more in 17th century authors.
Also, the coy, thinly disguised references to Holmes cases weren't necessary.
Still, despite the usual anachronisms and these other issues, an excellent read.

These books grew on me! I felt like I was listening to an old English novel in Mangles Street Murders. So glad I hung in there for the second and third book. This one ended in a complete surprise and so good. Really came to enjoy the dry humor of both main characters.

Insipid to Absurd

Somewhat entertaining these mysteries were included with my subscription and I’ve listened pending finding a new series of interest.

It is tragic when the description of the book is far more interesting than book itself.

The personal thoughts of the first-person protagonist have gone from pathetic and self-pitying to completely ridiculous and totally unbelievable in this installment.

And the woman keeps doing the same stupid thing over and over again. How many times can you fall for the same thing? The “Sherlock” to her “Watson” is a single dimensional bore.

A perfect series

An amazing twist and turn thriller that continues to keep the listener hanging on every word for what happens next.

Too long and narrator ruined the book!!!

I was lost because the narrator sounded the same with most of the characters. She was good with Uncle Tolly and like two others, but the rest blended together. There were too many unnecessary details which made the book way too long. I wasn't going to continue this series, however, I see that the next book has a new narrator. I hope she is as good as the one from the first two books.
