Resumen del Editor

A magical fantasy adventure. It’s midwinter's eve and everything is about to change for Dylan and his sister Emily. Being shrunk down to three inches is the easy part. They end up racing through underground tunnels - riding on the back of a very angry centipede - and trying to outsmart a whole army of slimy Whivicks.

Deadwood Hall is about secrets, friendship, magic, weird creatures, and looking out for each other when things go very wrong. This adventure is just the beginning - that’s if Dylan and Emily can survive until midnight!

Age Level: 7 - 10.

Interesting listen

This is definitely for a younger audience but is still entertaining for an adult. Narration is good & the storyline is just interesting enough to keep you listening.

Action-packed adventure story for grade school chi

Action-packed adventure story for grade school children. The book begins with a typical bantering between brother and sister, who are forced to share the backset of a car on the way to their grandfather’s house. Things change quickly for young Dylan when he sees something outside the car window that frightens him. Of course, nobody else sees it, and so the trip continues with Dylan feeling a bit less antagonistic toward his sister. The real journey begins when Dylan catapults a toy soldier from his grandfather’s room out the window. When he and Emily go after it, their entire world changes. This is a fabulous story. It moves at a pace quick enough to engage the young reader but not so fast that one can’t keep up. The characters are likeable (who doesn’t like an arguing brother/sister duo), and of course the soldier come to life to help save the day is a great touch. The narrator does a great job and has an engaging voice that seems appropriate for the intended age group. I normally review children’s books with my grandson, who loves audio books, but with a household of visiting cousins, I couldn’t pin him down long enough to listen to it. However, after giving me five minutes, he said it sounds really good and wants to finish it later. I highly recommend this book to grade-school aged children, but adults would like it too. I did.
