Why does everyone lie in her books, everyone and all the time? I realize the book would be much shorter, but the convoluted tales does get tedious! Maybe just one person could tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth?

Secrets

Loved every minute. What an adventure. Alex's scandalous youth comes back to haunt him. In order to save Cosmo and Emily, Alex must confront the secrets and demons of his youth. Selena must also reveal her secrets to Alex so they can go forward with their relationship. This was a great read. So looking forward to the next book.

WOW! What an exciting tale. The narrator simply brought this tale alive for me.
Fast paced, dramatic and emotional. Very compelling and entertaining.
The characters are compelling, complex and will capture your heart and attention.
Another outstanding audible story. Loved the narrator, so effective in getting Ms. Brand's story across to the listener. A must get audible!

Deadly Peril

Exciting, fast moving, intricately detailed mystery/romance novel! I can't wait to read Deadly Sin, which I think is to be the next book and hopefully audio book as well. Lucinda Brandt never disappoints in my opinion. Alex Wyndham is absolutely amazing (5 star talent) with all of the different character's personalities and dialects of the various languages used throughout the story. The twists and unusual turns in the plot for this mystery are refreshingly different. I purchased both the book and the audio version as I love hearing the correct pronunciation of the names, places, and the variety of dialects used in the different regions of the different countries before I read the ebook. I listened to all three of the Alec's Halsey mysteries one after the other in quick secession... now I just have to wait for the next one. Excellent book and audio book!

Alex does a remarkable and dreamy job doing Alex Halsey and a fantastic job with the multitude of characters in this book! Great and interesting plot!

Intrigue, Betrayal, War

This book has it all: so much intrigue along with twists in the plot. Alec was stationed here as a young diplomat early in his career, and his mistakes come back to haunt him. Unfortunately his closest friends are paying a price as prisoners to cruel captors. Lots of surprises for me as I had no idea how it would work out. Excellent writing and a great narrator.

Super series

This is a Great series. Always a pleasure to read one of Lucinda Brant's book.

A moving story

There are many reviews on this story and another review is likely not needed. Nevertheless, my feelings on hits story were such that I had to review it.

I took a chance on this series after listening to Cadenza for the second time and longing for more from Ms. Brant and Mr. Wydham. The reviews were good so I gave the series a try. I was hooked
.
The characters are well developed and you hated the ones that needed hating and loved those who deserved it.
It is difficult to keep my review limited. I enjoy reading reviews but I don't like those that go on and on but want enough information to know whether I will like the story or not. So I will give it may best effort.
This series is best read in order. Each story builds on the next and the romance between Selina and Alec is best read in order.
Out of the three books this one is my favorite.
The lovely characters from books one and two are a part of this adventure but what moved me more than anything was Lord Cosmo and his captivity. I felt his pain, fear, and despair. The author's writing and Wyndham's narration of the story are so compelling, it brings one close to tears.
The last chapter had my mouth agape.... You will enjoy finding out what the unspoken truth really is. Goodness, I gasped..

This series of worth time spend reading and/or listening. This book is so good it is worth a second, third and fourth listen....
It is worth paying for or using a credit. If you have kindle unlimited it can be read for free and the audiobook is only 7.50!!

Non-stop thrills,humor, suspense and romance

Perfect story, pace, dialogue and performance. Meticulous attention to historical customs and manners. Unforgettable protagonist and supporting charcters. If only I could hear it for the first time again.
