Three one-act plays from David Mamet, one of the master stage writers of our time:

In "The Shawl", a clairvoyant is in the process of swindling an unsuspecting woman on the basis of clever guess work and speculation. But it appears the clairvoyant has special powers that even he may not be aware of.

After years of separation, "Reunion" follows the painful and deliberate efforts of a divorced and recovering alcoholic father, Bernie, and his daughter Carol to work their way back to early bonds of affection.

"Bobby Gould in Hell": in this comic mediation on the nature of good and evil, Bobby Gould (from Mamet’s celebrated Speed the Plow) is interrogated by a pair of devils to decide his faith.

These are L.A. Theatre Works full-cast performances featuring Gus Buktenica, Dale Calandia, Marilou Henner, John Mahoney, Neil Pepe, Rebecca Pidgeon, Marc Vann, and Dan LaMorte.

Of the three plays, THE SHAWL is a standout. Intriguing, well-acted. REUNION is also finely performed, although more of a character piece. BOBBY GOULD IN HELL has some fun moments, but it feels a bit trite and tossed-off.

Not a bad bargain, though.

just such good storytelling and dialogue. nice to have a few shorter stories to see Mamet in shorter formats too

This is a decent collection of 1 act plays by Mamet however the titles where not given so you had to guess when plays started/ended.

If you like Mamet you will like these plays but it would have been nice if they at least told us what we were listening too. WHAT GIVES ! ! !

At least give the title of the plays

There is no announcement of when and what play is being presented. No cast list for the listener to appreciate their performance. Very unsatisfactory.
But the performances are stellar.
