It is 1815. Elizabeth Darcy returns to Hertfordshire to see her family at Christmas, but a silly quarrel between Mr. Darcy and Mr. Bingley threatens everybody's pleasure.
The war is over, but Meryton is anything but peaceful. The neighborhood ladies are each determined her cook will win first prize in the Beau Bon-Bon charity baking competition, and Mrs. Bennet is determined to get the new tenant of Netherfield Park for Kitty - but Commodore Harrington might have other plans.
And there is a bit with a dog....

This seasonal story places the focus largely on Mrs Bennet’s life after Mr Bennet’s death, when her daughters are married or no longer dependent on her. Darcy has arranged a house for her near Meryton, and while she is mostly content, the quiet of such a large house begins to weigh on her. It It’s too quiet.
The story opens as Mrs Bennet awaits the arrival of her daughters, all returning home to attend her Christmas ball. Kitty is the only one still living in Meryton, running the Beau Bon Bon shop, and Mrs Bennet sets her sights on matching her with the new owner of Netherfield Park, though matters do not unfold quite as she expects. What follows is a gentle, second-chances story, with Mrs Bennet very much at its heart. And a mischievous dog has everyone on guard.
Jannie Meisberger is excellent as the narrator and suits the tone of the story well. I do recommend listening to Fair Trade before this book, as it adds to the enjoyment and context of the sequel.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. The fact that I was gifted this book had no influence over my opinion of it.
Great!

It's a refreshing look at the "Pride and Prejudice" story, that emphasized the role Liz's mother plays. Let's face it, not many of us felt sympathetic towards Mrs. Bennet's plight. This version of this classic, will change your mind. I've also liked the way the author dealt with the other members of the family. Great job! The narration was also superb.
It's not just about Darcy and Elizabeth...
