I was pleased that I had the other two books given to me as a birthday present.

Pretty good ...

This was interesting. The cyborg has always intrigued me and Lace’s approach was rather creative. I like that our heroine was a humanitarian as well as a scientist and she could take care of herself. The blue teams reactions to their new software update were realistic for science fiction much of this was realistic. The audio performance was delivered a bit robotically but I’m wondering if that wasn’t planned. For the cyborgs it worked well as I imagined that’s how the information inside them came across. I enjoyed this and am going to follow the rest of the series.

loved this book. it was amazing. author and narrator did a wonderful job. i definitely recommend this book.

WOW!

Although skeptical about this one (The title threw me a curve) I found it a great read even though the hero wasn't 'exactly' human. This well-told story was fascinating and, along with the characters, so deep and intense, held me on the edge of my seat. Loved this one!

Amanda is a brilliant scientist working for Cyborg Sector, a military-affiliated division tasked with advancing cyborg technology. Her passion for ethical innovation fuels her long hours, often staying well past her peers. Though her coworker Jake repeatedly asks her out, she brushes off his advances—she’s not interested in being someone’s weekend distraction. Amanda chose cybernetic research with a mission in mind: to improve lives. Her quiet crush on her boss, Dr. Alex Feldman, adds a dash of complexity to her otherwise pragmatic demeanor. The lab she works in houses cyborgs in charging mode, locked in artificial comas between missions.

The project’s goal is ambitious: make cyborgs fully autonomous and able to function as cohesive squads, even if cut off from command though within the confines of their programming. Amanda spearheads efforts to implement facial recognition and artificial intelligence into their systems. Unlike most of her colleagues, she views the cyborgs as more than programmable tools. But when Adam begins to deviate from protocol—and upgrades his squad with sentience using nothing but his mind—the military brands them as threats. After Amanda is knocked unconscious during the upheaval, Adam takes her with him as the squad goes rogue.

• Cyborgs are an instant win—strength, intelligence, and sleek tech make them a compelling cast.
• Adam’s ability to issue silent commands and mentally transfer his OS upgrade was both cool and chilling.
• Dr. Feldman makes a solid antagonist with just enough menace.

👎 Room for Improvement

• Adam repeatedly calls Amanda “sir” early in the story—odd, given her gender and rank. Surely “ma’am” would be more appropriate?
• Amanda internalizes guilt for the cyborgs becoming sentient, treating it as a programming flaw. But isn’t reclaiming memory and autonomy a breakthrough, not an error?
• Even after bonding with the team, Amanda still refers to them as “not human,” undercutting the emotional stakes of their transformation.

🎙️ Narration Notes
Narrated solo by Michael Pauley, this audiobook presents alternating POVs with a single voice. Normally I prefer dual narrators for dual perspectives, but Pauley’s deep tone worked well in samples—though he veers toward monotone occasionally. Still, my love of cyborgs pulled me in, and I gave this one a shot despite the single-narrator format.

Loved This One

A group of cyborgs are being held and used as weapons. The government gathers these men up after they have been severely injured and gets them to sign their life away. They spend time hooked into a machine until they are needed. A scientist who wants to have them become autonomous changes their programming. She does not know what she has done but the Captain of the unit is the first one she implants with the new programming. It sets off a chain of events that are exciting at best. The story is so written that it makes you believe that this could actually happen. I was given this book in exchange for an unbiased review via audiobook boom.

Awesome Book!

I really enjoyed this book. It was action packed and had some hot sex scenes as well. Great story line! I'm excited to read the next in the series. I was given a free credit to listen and give an honest review.

Which? Her hot boss or fantasy worthy cyborg

The title of this book, Heat, is what is generated in this book. Will Amanda, a scientist who is working with the program to develop the cyborgs,, fall for her hot -looking boss or will she go for the cyborg that she is reprogramming who she you would definitely fantasize about. Another sizzling book about romance by Lisa Lace.. Her characters are fantastic and wonderful to read about.

Hot cyborgs, sexy doctors, and adrenaline oh my!!!

What would you do if your life's work was changing before your eyes in a wondrous new way that no one could predict? Would you deactivate the cyborgs you have come to care about so that you could correct the problem or would you have the courage that Amanda had and risk your life, career, credibility and heart to save them?!

AD-214 has been awakened and his confusion is understandable. The only thing that makes sense is that he needs to save his team and somehow Amanda is a part of the team. With each minute that passes AD-214 is changing and so is blue team. He knows that he is a cyborg and that something is malfunctioning with his systems but until he knows what it is he will do everything he can to keep his team safe and Amanda close.

This is a hot new series that's starts out with a bang! It grabs the reader and does not let go! Lisa Lace has created another amazing series that took me on an adventure that I did not foresee! She literally breathed new life in to her characters and made you feel for her cyborgs. I cannot wait to see what the next adventure will be!!!
