Something sinister is going down in the Big Easy: after his family disappears in the heart of the city, Matt O’Malley turns up at a truck stop with a concussion, unable to remember who attacked him or where his wife and two children are. As suspicions of his involvement ripple through his hometown, Matt tries desperately to piece together what happened.
Florida Omni Search founder Rachel Scott is determined to bring the rest of the O’Malley family home safely. But when a fisherman pulls a severed arm out of a muddy swamp, she knows the investigation needs to ramp up before the case takes an even grimmer turn. With partner Red Cooper, Rachel takes to the mysterious streets of New Orleans to uncover the truth. Along the way, she digs up a shocking revelation behind her own daughter’s disappearance - one that could alter the course of a grueling search that has spanned five long years.

In this book Matt is assaulted, hit in the head then his wife is killed and children abducted. Rachel's job is to assist him in finding his children and who did the crime. It's a clever story with a great plot that builds at a steady pace.
The only part of this book that didn't fit or caught me off guard was the narrator had a northern U.S. accent and the story takes place in the southern U.S. It was difficult to imagine them eating boiled peanuts and speaking as if they lived in the north. Otherwise Angela Dawe is a good narrator.
For anyone who loves a good mystery this is a book to read or listen to.

What made the experience of listening to Cut & Run the most enjoyable?
This is a series, well done. Book #2 is missing, but Ok to listen what audible offers. The mystery builds, so if you listen out of order, you may spoil the plot for yourself if read out of order. These are offered at my buy under $10 rule.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
yes, as this had a clever opening that kept you glued to the story for quite time. This is a short listen, and on the order of Linda Howard's Cry No More, not to be missed. (Joyce Bean does a fab job on it and I have listened to it several times.)Which character – as performed by Angela Dawe – was your favorite?
I am a big fan of Ms Dawe. Her male and children's voices are my fave. See Julie Garwoods Sweet Talk, Tiffany Snow series she reads, yum, and Nora Roberts' the MacGregor series.Note: I do use the new 1.25x speed so the dialogue matches the author's intent.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
yes, and I did. The 4th book is by another reader, of which I own 2 books read by her. I will have to listen to what I own before purchasing #4. For me, it the reader, that makes the story."Envy"
