When Summer Rayne Oakes moved to Brooklyn from the Pennsylvania countryside, she knew that bringing nature indoors was her only chance to stay sane. She found them by the side of the road, in long-forgotten window boxes, at farmers' markets, and in local garden shops. She found ways to shelve, hang, tuck, anchor, secure, and suspend them. She even installed 150-foot expandable hose that connects to pipes under her kitchen sink, so she only has to spend about a half-hour a day tending to her plants - an activity that she describes as a "moving meditation". In her wise and elegant new audiobook, Jane Goodall blends her experience in nature with her enthusiasm for botany to give listeners a deeper understanding of the world around us. Long before her work with chimpanzees, Goodall's passion for the natural world sprouted in the backyard of her childhood home in England, where she climbed her beech tree and made elderberry wine with her grandmother. The garden her family began then, she continues to enjoy today. Seeds of Hope takes us from England to Goodall's home-away-from-home in Africa.

Historia
It's accepted wisdom today that human beings have permanently damaged the natural world, causing extinction, deforestation, pollution, and of course climate change. But in Inheritors of the Earth, biologist Chris Thomas shows that this obscures a more hopeful truth - we're also helping nature grow and change. Human cities and mass agriculture have created new places for enterprising animals and plants to live, and our activities have stimulated evolutionary change in virtually every population of living species.

Resumen del Editor
Curious Creatures of the Amazon: A Journey Through the Rainforest takes listeners on an exhilarating adventure into the heart of the awe-inspiring Amazon rainforest. Embark on a captivating exploration alongside Lily Thompson and her friends, as guided by her passionate zoologist father, Dr. Robert Thompson. From the towering canopy to the secretive understory, from the enchanting rivers to the mysterious nocturnal realm, this book unravels the captivating world of the Amazon's curious creatures and vibrant ecosystems.
As the sun rises over the emerald canopy, listeners discover the significance of the rainforest's role as the "Lungs of the Earth", producing oxygen and absorbing carbon dioxide. They marvel at capuchin monkeys' acrobatic feats and toucans' vibrant plumage, understanding their vital contributions to the ecosystem. Descending into the understory, the wonders of leaf-cutter ants' teamwork and the majesty of jaguars' hunting strategies unfold. The rivers and wetlands reveal the grace of manatees and the fascinating abilities of electric eels. Beyond the fauna, listeners meet the indigenous people, the true guardians of the Amazon, and witness their sustainable practices. The audiobook also sheds light on the threats the Amazon faces and the ongoing conservation efforts to protect its unparalleled biodiversity. From camouflage strategies to symbiotic relationships, the intricate connections within this lush world are explored.
The rainforest's potential for medicine and its global significance as a climate regulator come to the forefront. Listeners are left inspired to become stewards of this vital ecosystem, preserving its legacy and safeguarding the treasure trove of biodiversity. Curious Creatures of the Amazon invites listeners to be part of a global movement, cherishing and conserving this remarkable jewel of nature for generations to come.
