Acerca de esta escucha

Dubbed "CryptoDad" for his impassioned plea to Congress to acknowledge and respect cryptocurrencies as the inevitable product of a fast-growing technological wave and a free marketplace, Chris Giancarlo is considered one of "the most influential individuals in financial regulation." CryptoDad: The Fight for the Future of Money describes Giancarlo's own reckoning with the future of the global economy - at the intersection of markets, technology, and public policy - and lays out the fight for a Digital Dollar.

CryptoDad is Giancarlo's own personal story, detailing his forays into the world of Wallstreet to his tenure as the thirteenth chairman of the United States Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), where he pushed for the agency to recognize the digitization of markets. His growing fame as a Twitter presence in this essential debate has given Giancarlo a platform to makes a case for the future of cryptocurrencies as the natural successor to America's current failing financial market infrastructure.

CryptoDad argues that the next digital wave will be the coming Internet of Value, where cryptocurrencies will do the Internet of Information did to immaterial things: Make them accessible, distributable, and movable instantly across the globe. This book is an ideal introduction to the importance of technology in the marketplace.

Awesome, informative ans entertaining

The information was fascinating to hear from a government official. The book kept me interested as well as entertained, yet was informative which was the reason for acquiring the book!

Insightfully balanced perspective on current reality and future potential

I enjoyed the way Chris G was able to provide a bridge between todays financial markets and to the way financial markets could be in the future. Too many people are either a) all-in zealots of crypto with no time to waste on explaining its benefits or acknowledging the work to yet be done to properly regulate it, or b) all-in naysayers pointing out the risks of anonymous exchange of value through crypto or the wild price fluctuations without appreciating the core potential value for society. Overall essential instruction kit for those truly wanting to learn rather than just reinforce there own pre-formed views.

Errors in fundamentals (DLTs are not blockchains)

Easy listen, but the errors in fundamental understanding make this a three star rating: you simple cannot put the label 'crypto dad' on your book and not be able to explain crypto correctly.

1/8 Crypto 7/8 commodities and swaps

If you are considering this book because of the title, be warned, it is NOT a book about crypto and the US Govt interaction with it. It is a biography that is heavy on names and acronyms AND his experience with crypto and the government regulations (30% of content). Still a good book and interesting look behind the regulatory curtain in the commodities and swaps markets. The last 20% was forward looking and very interesting. I listened to the first 2/3 at 1.7x speed hoping it would get to some real meat sooner than it did.

would be perfect but.....

talks to much about how he got to position. where I was hoping for more about the needs for regulations and proper regulatory authority.

Good in parts but way too much conservative dogma

The author spends a lot of time patting himself on the back ahd sharing right wing dogma to all of us. It’s more of a defense of a laissez-faire approach to the economy than anything else And that grew tiresome. He confuses economic woes of oligarchy with Socialism. Calls out Democrats by name while virtually never calling out Republicans instead choosing to say predecessors. (For example the gop led 2008 crash he claims is not worth revisiting))Moralizes yet fails to see the immorality of many of those around them including Trump and mnuchin. Complains about lack of infrastructure spending without pointing to the GOP. Claims not to be a politician but the book is VERY political. At times it’s like a Goldman Sachs frat party as told by a silver spoon lawyer. It’s often just more faux populism He talks about the fourth amendment yet doesn’t mention the outsized impact of the megaphones that exist on society and bitcoin trading. If you’re looking for a book on crypto etc. this really isn’t it. It’s a self congratulatory biography With a sprinkling of actual bitcoin crypto information

TO MUCH FILLER

To much back story and talk. As soon as I heard how great the Dodd/Frank legislation was I knew it was going down hill. Most people know what a nightmare the Dodd/Frank legislation created with the collapse of the housing market. Full of financial talk but very little cripto talk.
