team Talon!

What a adventure this book took me on! Locklyn is a great friend and a badass women even without magic. She fights tooth and nail for the ones she cares about and never let's others keep her down. All she wants is to be the perfect match for her childhood crush so she joins a competition to win a magical item that will give her magic of her own. But it's not as easy as she thought. This was such a great book and cannot wait for book 2!

I Was Invested

I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this Audiobook. So much so that I ordered a first edition hardcover. Excellent story, great characters and wow, that ending! Can't wait for the next.

You conniving evil genius. Where is the next book? I need it immediately. More than Onyx Storm even. Like, I can't even fathom waiting for this next book.

Okay, calming down. Let me get to a review here before I go scream incoherently into a pillow for hours.

Creatures of Chaos reminds me of a YA version of Fourth Wing and the closest YA book I can think of to compare it to is House of Night. It gives you that same visceral REACTION - where you're like "I don't think this series is the best series ever but I CANNOT stop reading it because I need to know how it ends." And seriously, I devoured this book (on audio) and I just want MORE. Especially more of Talon. If he is not end game, I don't know how I will survive, okay. Please let this be a slow burn for them. PLEASE. I don't hate Becks but Talon makes me feel SO much more and I love that boy to pieces. He's so adorable.

Again, I will reiterate, this isn't like "the best book ever" and honestly many of you will be like "omg, this is too dramatic and YA for me" like it's a bad thing to be. I devoured it though, and I am left starving for more. Just be warned if you don't like YA books where the FMC is pining after a guy, then you should steer clear. Also, if you hate love triangles, you can just leave now. HAHAHA.

It also kind of reminds me of the Selection a little bit. And I did see some of Aspen in Becks - but I will also say that Becks is much better! Just a few tiny aspects that remind me of Aspen. Talon, however, reminds me a lot more of Xaden from FW than Maxon. Maxon is just such a cinnamon roll innocent whereas Talon is this dark mysterious creature that is drawn to Locklyn because she's just ... a girl trying to survive and live and love and gosh, she's so cute too. Whyyy. I can't even begin to understand why I even like her because she's so ??? I bet you guys will hate her but I feel for her. I love her a lot - she's trying her best in this world that will always be against her for not having magic.

This review became a ramble of craziness and I can't even help it because I WANT MORE NOW.

One of my Favorites!

Creatures of Chaos was my first 5* read of 2025! I loved the characters, and I am 100% in love with the story. Plot twists, angst, secrets, betrayal. It gives all the feels. The narrator made the story enjoyable for me even though I typically only listen to stories that have both a male and female narrator. Impatiently waiting for book 2 to see how Locklyn handles the situation she’s found herself in!

this book is not talked about enough. It was a great read! Loved every single second of it and my heart completely broke at the end and made me soooo pissed that the second one is not out yet. I CAN NOT WAIT!

twists and turns!

The twists and turns of this book was absolutely incredible! You really don't know what to expect the whole way through! And truly I cannot wait to read the next book!

Phenomenal!!

Creatures of Chaos was phenomenal. It was packed with action, adventure, a bit of mystery and suspense, an awesome world and characters, twists and turns. I so enjoyed it and cannot wait to see what happens next. As for the narration, the narrator knocked out of the park especially when it came to characterizations she excelled at it from tones, to the nuances and cadence of each character's voice. She mastered both male and female. She made this story so easy to fly through. She was a joy to listen to. I definitely recommend this book.

Absolutely amazing! Julie did a phenomenal job entrancing us with this world but this audio makes it that much better!! I highly recommend listening to this story!

Phenomenal narrating for a chaotic book

The narrator did an amazing job with this audiobook. When I found out ALC was the narrator of this book, I was thrilled! I loved her in previous books she’s recorded, she just does such a great job!

Julie hit it out of the park with writing this one and now I need either therapy, an emotional support group or book 2! Preferably the latter but I’ll survive, just like Locklyn.

I love the uniqueness of this story. Chaos is nuts, every challenge is so different and I love that Locklyn isn’t just this amazing super chick who succeeds at everything she does and is supernaturally gifted or special. She’s actually kind of the opposite. She physically fit because she has to lean on that and, through the Chaos, she is able scrape by.

I LOVE Ensley, can I have one of her in my life? She’s the best friend and cheerleader for Locklyn.

I do have conflicted feelings about Becks…he’s just one of those characters that you love because he’s got the long term friendship and loyalty with our FMC, but he also way underestimates her. Not only that, he puts her down and doesn’t see her strengths outside of her physical strength. Which leads me to…

Talon 😍 he sees Locklyn. He sees her for who she is and knows her potential. He speaks life into her and believes in her when she doesn’t believe in herself. She sees that and it shows in her encounters with him.

That ending though. Ughhhhh Julie! Why!? Why did you do that to us?! When do we get book 2?
