Twilight was better

If you were a twilight obsessed tweener 10 years ago, you will immediately recognize this as a slightly altered, slightly more mature "cover" of that series. In my opinion the alterations were of all the wrong things, adding many nonsensical and unnecessary elements. OCD for the H and a wishy washy and silly h are only a couple of examples. Great narration wasn't enough to fix the story for me but if you're looking for a walk down that memory lane this might bring back some fonds memories for you, though I would recommend you just reread the actual original series instead.

Taking slow burn to new levels, but worth it.

There are a few things I wished I'd known before starting the book, so I'll tell any possible readers about those first so that they can make an informed decision about what they are getting themselves into with this series.
1. The first book is unnecessarily long. There's too much back and forth, I mean Amelia quits several times within the first half of the book! Then the more I learned about her and the more I saw her behavior, the more I began to dislike Amelia. She was not very kind and not very grateful in my opinion. She was overly critical of Grant and I did not like it. I don't know if she ever really thanks him for saving her life multiple times and instead focuses on any mistake he makes. I hated that she made him feel inferior all the time too by calling him creepy or stunted, and this is after they officially get together! The man is so in love with her he watches videos of her when she's not around and she just says "Yeah that's creepy, you should probably keep that to yourself" and it was not the reaction I'd expected or wanted. She just doesn't seem to appreciate him much for a lot of the book, although it grows a over time.
2. Like the title of the review, this takes the term 'slow burn' to new heights. If you're looking for erotic and steamy scenes with a vampire and a human, look elsewhere. After getting several hours in and barely any physical contact to show for it, and I was bored out of my MIND and almost did not continue on. I wasn't even at the end of the first book yet, I was about 3/4 of the way, and I was so bored with the constant "I like him, I like him not" that I wanted to stop. It felt more noticeable at this point how that filler I mentioned was starting to show, since this is one big mesh of all three books in one and made me wonder when we'll just get on with the hot scenes, and when I got to book three it was a very different story. I'm glad I hung in there for the third book, it was worth it. 3. After much deliberation, I decided the narrator was purposefully using that dull, flat tone he uses for Grant's voice to express him in the first two books. I noticed he uses much more inflection with Amelia so thought it might have been purposeful to reflect Grant's persona of being numb to the world and all that jazz, but even when he was supposed to be showing emotion, the narrator didn't change his inflection much. The third book changed that though; I'm not sure why, but his narration was noticeably better although not the standard amount of emotion you'd expect. You still had to pay close attention to context at times because a roared "NO!" would sound like a normal, everyday version of the word. I would take a chance on him again since the last book's narration was pretty good; that said, if it ended up being a pattern, I don't know that I would want to hear a robot read my audiobooks.,
4. Grant was sweet and when his possessive side did come out, it was sexy as hell. I liked him enough to feel like it was probably worth it to spend a credit on these books, but if they weren't wrapped up in a package I would not have even gone on to book two after finishing the first one. Luckily, that's not how it happened and I got back into the story when I got into the second book. Things start to finally pick up around 11-12 hours in, and from then on it continually got better and better. So hang in there and get through Amelia being rude and mean, and Grant being clueless, and it all comes together in the end.

Story was awesome, but.....

Wish there were both a male and female narrator, and not this male. He was terrible. Very mechanical. I would listen to this series again with better narration. I really liked the story line. I hated the narration so much that I had a hard time listening but it was the story that kept me going.

This was okay

I dont get why she couldnt have a special power and that all she had was blood that no longer mattered after she destroyed the stone. The fact that Sebastián was in love with his Sire...eh no thanks.

Love it!

This was the first series by Angel Lawson that I had ever read. I have been putting off getting it on audio, but when I found the first three books in a handy dandy box set, I took the plunge. I didn't regret it. I had forgotten how much I love Grant and Amelia's story. The fire and passion in this series is amazing and the narrator did an amazing job of bringing these characters to life. I literally binge listened to this over the course of just a few days, and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves paranormal romances.

This will not be a reread.

The story felt predictable, and then the author would try to blindside you in weird ways. It just didn't feel like it flowed. The narrator tried, but his inflection was lacking. He felt like he was channeling Yoda or something when he voiced other male characters. Bless him. He tried. I like his voice. Honestly, he was probably bored with the story too. This was a struggle to finish.

It drags on for so long before anything substantial happens. Then boom, bam, fizzle it's over. Lame. It does have parts that kind of remind you of Twilight.

**Spoiler Alert**

I get the author wanted complex characters/side characters/plots, but a scarred loner with a tamed diet that falls in love with his mothers rapist/murderer? Weird. Inlove enough to die for him? It also felt like she was setting it up for a follow up at the end for the twins.
