Peak Turtledove

Alternate history is at its best when it’s character driven, with the big events happening around them and shaping their lives. I’ve yet to find an author who does this as well as Harry. Every single character is interesting and well written, and when one of them dies, it’s genuinely saddening.

Well written, well read.

I always enjoy Turtledove and McLaten, who has narrated another series for the author, does a fantastic job. Well paced, clear, and with consistent pronunciation.

This series is as good as Worldwar series.

We see the perspective from an American in Berlin, two jewish families in Berlin, a Czech sniper using an anti-tank weapon as a sniper rifle, an International, an infantry company led by Awful Arno, Theo Hossbach and his Panzer III, and Stuka pilot.

Also is the Russian view from Ivan, and others.

This tale is engrossing, funny and gives an insight into Spanish civil war that I did not know.

Appreciate it.

Wash rinse repeat

This is what Turtledove does best. A cast of characters that exists around all the famous events of history. It’s rich, it’s emmersive and it’s good. This is worth your credit.

Maintaining a really good story line.

Harry Turtledove and Todd McLaren are keeping the story line flowing in their very entertaining way. I recommend this series.

Britain and France

Britain explains why they and France would help Germany to get rid of bolsheviks in the Eastern Front.
