Resumen del Editor

Over 200 years ago, famed explorer Meriwether Lewis died on the Natchez Trace under mysterious circumstances. Historians still argue whether it was suicide or murder. That shouldn't affect a weekend campout in the present day for Frannie Shoemaker and her friends, but it does. They meet interesting characters at a mountain man rendezvous and get mixed up as usual with the strange goings-on. Because camping can be murder!

Another well-written, entertaining read

Corpse of Discovery: The Frannie Shoemaker Campground Mysteries, Book 9, my third read from author Karen Musser Nortman and my second in this highly enjoyable series. Enjoyable 3-hour 50-minute, 190-page cozy mystery. Having read Mask of Death: The Frannie Shoemaker Campground Mysteries, Book 10 before reading book 9 I found myself having to remind myself that they were not the campground hosts. I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. I was impressed and enjoyed the vocal variety & inflections of narrator Michelle Babb. I look forward to reading more in this series & from this author as I get them. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Love these cozy mysteries

This book, number 9 in the Frannie Shoemaker Campground Mysteries series by Karen Musser Nortman, does not disappoint. Another great cozy mystery narrated by Michelle Babb. The story line continues in the same vein as the earlier books in the series.

Michelle Babb does another great job narrating this book. I highly recommend her as a narrator.

I was given this book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Jenny’s review

I just really like cozy mysteries especially the Frannie Shoemaker mysteries are fun with plenty of scary thrown in to get ones heart rate up. This is book nine in the series with as always has a very talented narrator Michelle Babb who makes the characters seem like old friends. I genuinely like this story I thought the Blue Coyote was my favorite but this one comes a close second.

I received this book in exchange for my honest review.
Frannie Shoemaker and her friends go to a reinactment of famed explorer Lewis, Meriwether whom historians can’t determine wether he killed himself or was murdered, even though Frannie and Mickey think they have it figured out. Camping has brought these friends closer together through many dangers as well as helping solve some odd murders.
With this new set of murders that start popping up during this new adventure that’s got Frannie completely involved the trouble closing in on her if she doesn’t watch out!

Another enjoyable mystery

Another easy and enjoyable short mystery. I enjoyed learning about some history and seeing these character through another mystery, though they do seem to be simpler and shorter.

Super Fun Mystery

The books in this series just keep getting better and better. As I read each book and get to know the characters better, I enjoy the books more and more. Franny and her gang are at it again. I do love that Franny doesn’t usually put herself into stupid situations where she confronts the killer when they’re all alone and no one knows where she is. I hate it when characters do that. Franny is just naturally good at figuring things out, and her husband Larry is her anchor that keeps her grounded and safe. The narrator is excellent. It feels like she is telling a story and not at all like she is reading it. It’s smooth and easy to listen to. And everyone has a voice of their own. You are never left wondering who is doing the talking because they all sound similar. If you haven’t read the series before, you could easily start with this book. The stories don’t interconnect in any way and this could easily be a stand-alone book. But, if you really want to get to know the characters and Franny’s gang of friends, start with book one in the series. It’s fun. You will enjoy all of the books and will want to listen to more when you’re done with them all.

Delightful Cozy Mystery

Corpse of Discovery is another delightful cozy mystery in the Frannie Shoemaker Campground Mysteries series by Karen Musser Nortman. By number 9 in the series, readers know that when Frannie and her hubby and friends make camp in a campground, there is a body soon to be found. And as they settle in at the mountain man rendevous with people debating whether Merriweather Lewis was murdered or committed suicide, a similar debate comes up with another dead camper at the rendevous. And Frannie is right there in the middle of it all. I enjoy Frannie's involvement in solving the murders. There are lots of suspects, quirky characters, adventure, and a little history tossed in too. Will Frannie be able to suss out the culprit before they have to leave? Don't miss the next in a fun line of cozy mysteries. Michelle Babb does a good job narrating the story which makes for an enjoyable listening experience. I received a complimentary copy of the audiobook and was not required to write a positive review. The opinions are my own.

Enjoyable mystery with a group of friends

I usually prefer to read a series in order. However, I've been interested in Lewis and Clark since the seventh grade, so when I saw this mystery, I decided to jump right in. I'm glad I did! I enjoyed Frannie Shoemaker and friends, and found myself imagining that I was one of the group. The mystery was enjoyable, the interactions between friends even more so. Although it was clear this wasn't the first interesting experience this group had shared, not having that background did not impair my enjoyment at all. Michelle Babb did her usual great job narrating, differentiating the various voices while still sounding natural. I'm looking forward to going to the beginning of this series and spending more time with Frannie Shoemaker and gang!

Amateur Sleuth and An Historical Event

I enjoyed book 9 of "The Frannie Shoemaker Campground Mysteries" very much. I liked that the author included an actual historical event and wove that tale in with her contemporary murder mystery. I enjoyed the comradery between Frannie and her camping friends. I appreciated the moments of humor that percolated throughout the prose. Michelle Babb's narration was charming, and it was easy to listen to her performance. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.
