Resumen del Editor

Angie Rosewood makes a big mistake: She falls in love with her employer’s son, Marcus Donahue. By some miracle, he falls for her, too. If they are caught speaking to each other, she will be fired. Marcus swears he’ll take care of things, but he doesn’t get the chance.

After Marcus leaves on a business trip, Angie is summoned to the housekeeper’s office. The head housekeeper takes joy in telling Angie she’s been seen kissing Marcus, and her employment is terminated.

Suddenly, Angie is homeless and scared. When she reads an advert for mail-order brides, it seems the only answer to her prayers. Angie heads to Fort Regent, Wyoming, to meet Robert Beekman. But what should be a happy occasion soon turns into a nightmare.

Angie fears she is in danger and longs for Marcus to come and save her, but he has no idea where she is. How could she hope for a rescue from the man she loves?

Lovely story

Sweet, short audiobook for a mail order bride story. For a while i was a little worried about how things would pan out, but all was well in the end :)

Wishes Do Come True

I totally enjoyed listening to this book, especially with Sarah Kisko as the narrator. Angie has fallen for her employer's son. Being the maid doesn't help the situation and when they fire her, she loses more than her job, she loses the love of her life, Marcus. What can Angie do now. Her only choice is to become a mail order bride. Well things go from bad to worse, when she meets her intended, Bob. He is horrible. Follow along to see what happens next. I warn you, it is a good book.
I was given a copy of this book by the narrator for an honest review.

The Maid's Groom

I liked this story. It was short and the ending was happy. You could really feel for Angie's predicaments. I thought Sarah Kisko did a really good job narrating this story.

Sweet and Clean Romance, with a little suspense!

This is the third novella in the Mail Order Brides of Fort Regent Series. Angie and Marcus's forbidden romance is sweet and heartwarming. They are both great characters. Angie is smart, and strong. Marcus is handsome, and protective. Robert/Bob is the villain in the story, and he is such a bad man. All the characters are well developed, and they are interesting. This is a clean romance, filled with angst, danger, and twists and turns. The storyline is original, interesting, and intriguing. I liked the suspense in the story, and the beautiful happy ending. Sarah Kisko did an excellent job with the narration. She has a beautiful voice, very pleasant to listen to. All the voices are easy to distinguish. I enjoyed it.

Awesome Book

I love how these stories are short, yet leaves you feeling fulfilled. The stories are near realistic to the fact that it could be an actual true story. The narrator does an awesome job reading the story.

Sweet and Clean

This is a different approach to a mail order bride story. It was a fresh approach. I really enjoyed the romance, the adventure, the twists and turns. I always enjoy this author's stories.

The narration is super good. Sarah Kisko is one of my favorites. She brings the characters and story to life and makes the listening most pleasant.

I requested this audiobook from the narrator and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

It didn't work for me

I received a free audiobook code in exchange for an honest review.

I can’t say how many historical romance stories I’ve read and/or listened to but this one was lacking. After looking over the other reviews, I’m guessing the 5-stars belonged to one of the following: the author’s friend, a reviewer who only leaves good/5-star reviews, or someone who has never read/listened to historical… anything before.

I don’t like leaving bad reviews but there was nothing unique about this story. I knew from the beginning that she’d end up with Marcus. There were no twists or surprises. Nothing made me feel any emotion for the characters other than boredom. Most scenes I couldn’t even picture the setting/characters.

The narrator did an okay job. I don’t think she was the right fit, though. She was almost too happy/bubbly while she read even when it wasn’t a “happy” scene. There was also a strange longer-than-normal pause between certain words that she did. I don’t know what the issue was.

Questions/Comments:

First, a servant would never refer to their employer by their first/Christian name even if “Mr.” is added. It was always “Mr. insert last name.” Even married couples usually referred to each other by Mr./Mrs. and their last name.

Angie is too outgoing with her “betters” for a maid in the 1800s, especially given her upbringing.

I could easily imagine this taking place nowadays, which isn’t good considering that isn’t the correct period for this story. There were barely any “historical” references to attire, dialogue, and everyday issues. Everyone was overly confident, acted out of character for the period, and it didn’t work.

The repetition like “Bob pulled up in front of the boarding house and pulled her down” or “Her eyes widened at the sight her eyes met” and redundancy (didn’t note any examples) stood out to me.

A few lines seemed questionable given the period like, “She loved getting up early and having a cup of coffee.” She was a servant so that seems unlikely (I could be wrong, but then with the next comment, I'm thinking not likely.). Or “Girls dreamed of their weddings from the time they were little…” Um, they didn’t unless they came from money.

A fiancé? No, it would have been her “betrothed.”

The ending… Marcus just happened to get there the moment she was about to leave to marry Bob? No.
