When Chelsea Wayne drags Santa into a supply closet for a little office-party nookie, she assumes the man in the suit is her on-again/off-again coworker boyfriend. Instead, it's Rafe St. Sebastian, a man known for his hard-driving ways in business as well as the bedroom - and, kill her now, the brand spanking new owner of Las Ventanas - who grants her naughtiest Christmas wishes.

So much for her reputation, not to mention her career.

Rafe needs to close three acquisitions to prove to his father he's ready to take the helm of St. Sebastian Enterprises. A hot interlude in a supply closet after deal number two seems like the perfect illicit Christmas bonus. Unfortunately, when that "bonus" becomes the key to the final deal, he finds himself back in bed - so to speak - with Chelsea, and after their steamy tryst, he's not interested in keeping things professional....

Contains mature themes.

If there is someone who successfully pulled off the combination of hot and sweetness in Romancelandia, I could definitely say the author is one of them. I have always enjoyed her books. In fact. I always look forward to reading them, especially when I see them in the Plus Catalog. This time, however, I hesitated to continue listening because I was unsure what to make of the narrator's reading style. Her intonation has a rhythmic pattern similar to a declamation, making it somewhat out of place in the story. Because of that observation, I told myself that if I were to continue with the series, I would read it the traditional way. So, yes, despite this hiccup, I will still read the other two titles in the series.

Better read the traditional way

Rafe (MMC) and Chelsea (FMC)

Pros:
The spicy scenes are well written. The physical chemistry & attraction between the MC's is palpable, although I'm not entirely sure if/that they have much more in common but insta-lust feelings towards each other :/

The FMC has a best friend who is wonderful, supportive, empathetic and lovely. She's definitely my favorite character in this story! 🫶🏻

Cons:
When at the start of the story, Rafe f*cks Chelsea inside a supply closet, without even exchanging greetings, this immediately raised a red flag for me 🙄🚩. Like why not even ask her why? His intentions are suspicious, to say the least 🤔.

Then, when Chelsea finds out about her mistake of getting intimate with Rafe (believing that he was Paul, her boyfriend of 6 months) she immediately decides that pursuing anything further with Rafe would be a mistake, as they literally work together (even if he's not her boss, technically).
However, Rafe does not take "no" for an answer and almost forces the FMC to go on a date with him... Perhaps consent wasn't as present in romance novels over 10 years ago when this book was published, but still... it kind of gives me a creepy vibe 😒.
I do like a persistent MMC, but perhaps trying out other tactics besides wearing the FMC down would've seemed more appropriate 😤😩😒.

At times, the MMC is pretty arrogant and entitled, but he's hot and gives Chelsea many O. in bed so I guess that's ok??? 🙄.

To me, Rafe shows a total disregard for the FMC's career. She's worked hard to get her current position, yet he doesn't care about compromising her position (did you see what I did there? 😏) and possibly getting her fired/losing all of her professional credibility... he's pretty selfish in this regard imo 😩 .

Overall this book wasn't terrible, but also not great. I usually adore all of the author's work, but this one is meh, tbh. I just needed a bit more in terms of character development and depth in the story.

Happy reading 📚

The main male character is an arrogant prick. I cannot stand him. A female is just a bit better.
