A great one

It surprised me, finally showing a strong character.
I really liked it's a great book.

Dare to Resist by Laura Kaye

In a big fan of Laura Kaye and have read several of her books. I was looking forward to reading Dare to Resist, her prequel for the multi-author series, Wedding Dare. But I have to admit I could never really get into it. I didn't feel the chemistry between the two lead characters. And frankly all the self-talk and self-doubt each character seemed to continually go on about became tedious. When they finally were getting together their discussion about their preference for bdsm felt contrived and awkward. I had a hard time finishing this one which was disappointing, but it was probably just me. 2.5 stars.

Sweet, hot, and heartwarming! An older brother's best friend story where the electricity between Colton and Kady is sizzling!

Wets the appetite

I'm very interested in this series now. This was a great short story that has heat, great characters and background which gives depth and lead to where, why and how these two can make it. The narrator is good but I like a bit more definition between male and female.

Kady had a thing for Colton all her life. The problem? He’s her older brother best friend and never saw in her nothing more than a little girl. Until one night changes it all and Colton leaves, not knowing how to deal with that, opening an awkwardness between them that they ignore by endlessly teasing each other. Now, three years later, they are fighting professionally for the same contract and for some ungodly reasons (fate, perhaps?) end up sharing the same hotel room.
And well, one night… one book will change it all. Yes, one book!!!
I loved the initial banter between those two. And despite hating the initial lack of communication between them, I loved how sweet it all became after. Colton was a sexy alpha-male and Kady was pretty good either.

Overall ★★★½ It was a well-written pinning for my older brother’s friend / pinning for my best friend’s younger sister contemporary romance novella. It had just the right amount of steam and story.

Performance ★★★★★ Narrator Carrie Piper was new to my ears, but I really like her acting, tone and pacing. I’d definitely listen to another novel narrated by her.

Story ★★★☆☆ Kady Dresco and Colton Brooks discovered they shared more than being nerds and the same career field. They both like their sex rough without diving into hardcore BDSM exactly. I think their love story worked for me as a non-BDSM trope fan because they grew up together before Colton joined the military.

My favorite scene was when they were just chilling and watching the movie Office Space, one of my favorite old movies. Narrator Carrie Piper mimicked the movie actor Gary Cole as boss Bill Lumbergh telling Peter he wanted him to come into work over the weekend perfectly, bravo!

the story was cute but I can't tell if the narrator was older or if they're just too husky for me or what. sounded older to me and it was incongruous for the characters ages. she wasn't my fav

Found it Hard to Put Down!

Loved the Hero and Heroine, the way they were when around each other, very enticing!

Kady Dreso and Colten Brooks were family's friends and he is the best friend to Kady's brother and both had been in the military and Regan Dreso his still serving and away in services. Now Kady is grown and works with a firm that is well known and vanning for a contract with the military. It was during the bidding for this contract that both meet again. After the presentation of their different contract and they were waiting for Kady to complete her presentation. By time she finish the weather has gone very bad and it was impossible to leave and all airline were cancel. They were forced to spend the next two days in the hotel. Kady and Colton were forced to shard a room because her room was floored. But they discovered their love and all they had in common and their sexual desires were the same. Both found their self and hope was build with many prospective for their future.

Painful

It’s so rare that a narrator takes me completely out of the story. The worst I have ever heard. Ot may have impacted the way I felt about the story, but I don’t think so.

I thought this was going to be a fun, spicy novella to prime me for the series, nope. It was boring, and sickly sweet for something this short.

If the MMC is has all these dark desires (that weren’t dark) that he’s afraid she’ll be afraid of him, IDK I needed more something
