Resumen del Editor

Thomas Paine published Common Sense in 1776, a time when America was a hotbed of revolution. The pamphlet, which called for America's political freedom, sold more than 150,000 copies in three months. Paine not only spurred his fellow Americans to action but soon came to symbolize the spirit of the Revolution itself. His persuasive pieces, written so elegantly, spoke to the hearts and minds of all those fighting for freedom from England.

well narrated, awesome and timeless message.

I've listened to it many times now and have marveled at the bravery and foresight of Thomas Paine. It is also well narrated and gives you the feel of a colonial era debate tournament.

An oasis in a dry land of strayed modern politics.

A Very informative piece of literature and quenchful reprieve from the flawed opposition to what could be a yet great Republic.

Democracy's continual labor pains

I knew about this book in high school, but thankfully it wasn't on my required reading list.
I would not of understood it.
I am now 73. I have gone through a 2 year pandemic and 6 years of very confusing political strife, sometimes violent, and struggling presidential leaderships.
I began being interested in how we got here while on Covid lockdown. Also because of the advent of Twitter and comments exploding in so many directions that I had no idea what they meant. The internet has a wealth of information. I talked with a few like minded individuals who pointed to selections of reading and podcasts that were good to read, or as i like to do, listen to. The book "Common Sense" came up several. I thought its going to be a pain, but, I've gone through it for the 3rd time.
I am taking interest in American history like never before. I took a few courses and and started reading, listening to things i didn't remember learning (or care about)in high school.
History is so different when one has the life experience to compare and contrast. I am loving the past history now. And feel more grounded in understanding our current nation's sensibilities.

The reader is nice to listen to. I felt transported back in time.
Thank you AudioBooks.

A quick read and we’ll worth it.

Essential if you are looking to gain an understanding of how the country was founded and the narrative and emotion and discourse of the time just preceding revolution.

Very helpful and powerful story.

This story was excellent, though challenging. The challenge had to do with the “English style of speaking”. The logic of the author’s arguments was powerful and impressive.

A MUST READ for every American!

Enormously popular and widely read propaganda pamphlet, published in 1776, clearly and persuasively argues for American separation from Great Britain and paves the way for the Declaration of Independence. Eloquent, persuasive and incendiary. I can see why this pamphlet was so influential. A must read for every American!
