Blair ruined my life once. Now she's about to ruin me in an entirely different way.

Blair Fox.

The name that's been seared into my memory since the day her stick caught my knee and ended my athletic ambitions. The scar on my thigh is a permanent reminder of everything I lost, thanks to her.

Now she's here. In my law firm. Looking at me like she wants to either argue with me or devour me—and I can't tell which one terrifies me more.

We're enemies. Rivals. We can't be in the same room without the air crackling between us.

So how the hell did we end up tangled together in a New Orleans hotel room? And why does it keep happening?

It was supposed to be one mistake. One reckless, desperate kiss after too many late nights working together. But now I can't stop thinking about the way she tastes. We're playing with fire. The partners are watching. Office gossip spreads like wildfire. One wrong move and both our careers go up in smoke.

But the real danger? I'm still closeted. My father doesn't know. The firm doesn't know. And when someone forces us under the mistletoe at the office Christmas party, I panic—destroying the woman I've fallen impossibly, irrevocably in love with.

I thought hating Blair was safer. Easier. But the woman who ruined my knee fifteen years ago has become the only one who can put me back together.

Now I just have to be brave enough to claim her.

Perfect for readers who love high-stakes workplace romance, rivals who can't keep their hands off each other, and women brave enough to risk everything for love.

The story itself is a good one. You just have to get past the virtual voice narration. While some virtual voice narration is really bad, this one is tolerable.

Blair and Amanda are high school field hockey rivals. but in their last game of senior year fighting for the winning game, Blair accidentally hits Amanda while trying to get the ball and damages her knee. 15 years later, they meet again working at the same law firm. They finally admit they were attracted to each other in high school, and still attracted to each other.

Blair is open about being a lesbian, but Amanda at 32 is still in the closet. When one is out and the other one is not it makes a relationship hard, as the one that is out has to be in hiding.

As for mature content, there is a wee bit in this book, The one scene is spicy enough for me to give it a 🌶️🌶️🔥 rating.

Good Story

This was a spectacular read that kept my attention throughout. The characters were relatable which allowed me to understand their viewpoints. The chemistry between Blair and Amanda was amazing. I always love a good relationship that develops from hate to love. Also, I had no isues with the virtual voice. I would highly recommend this book.

Their Chemistry

I am tired of the ai generated stories . The gaps and inconsistencies in the story line and the change in Blair’s mother’s name mid story . It is infuriating. Stop loading this stuff!

So generated

There’s just no place for AI voice in the romance genre. It might be fine for a textbook, but without a human voice, all the heat fell flat, and the book couldn’t really shine. I found it kind of amusing, but I wouldn’t have paid for it.

The writing was good, although the story centers on coming out, which—for a lesbian who’s consumed tons of queer media—feels a bit played out. The main characters also lack agency about their relationship, which frustrated me, especially coming from such high-powered women. Overall, it was cute.

Hilariously bad narration
