Acerca de esta escucha

Follow Gertie MacIntyre from knitting circle to air stewardess in this glorious and romantic summer novel set in Scotland’s windswept Northern isles, by beloved New York Times bestselling author Jenny Colgan.

In the northernmost reaches of Scotland, where a string of little islands in the North Sea stretches towards Norway, lives Gertie MacIntyre, a proud island girl by birth. Her social circle is small but tight: family and friends, particularly the women in her knitting circle. In the whitewashed cottages of their hometown, everyone knows everyone, and the ladies of the knitting circle know more than most. In a place of long dark winters and geographic isolation, the knitting circle is a precious source of gossip, home, laughter, and comfort for them all. And while she knits, Gertie’s busily plotting what to do with the rest of her life.

When Gertie develops a crush on Callum Frost, who owns the local airline, she dares herself to take a job as an air stewardess on the little plane that serves the local islands. Terrifying at first, the sixteen-seat puddle jumper also offers the first taste of real freedom she’s ever known. Will Gertie’s future lie in the skies? Or will she need to go further afield to find the adventure she craves?

Such delightful characters

What I love about Jenny Colgan’s books are the distinctive characters. They are unique and relatable and charming! The ensemble of them always works so well together. This story draws you into their world, as well. A very sweet read!

Jenny Colgan never disappoints

As usual, Jenny Colgan is the perfect escape. It is 100 degrees outside but I am just transported to a tiny Scottish island where all the people are lovely and the landscape is beautiful. I love the wholesome world that Jenny Colgan always creates.

I love how all stories are interrwined

Jenny Colgan is truly one of my favourite authors. I love how all the books sprinkle stories from their other books and the Scottish islands. Always a joy to listen to while I crochet.❤️

I love a knitting story

Tha narrator had the accents down, but Ian & Struen sounded alike. The story had a coming of age thread and Gertie went from a timid shop girl to a woman living her dream

Another wonderful book thank you Jenny!

This particular book has a very slow start, and build slowly all throughout the book.
This completely matches the arc of the character Gertie, who goes through many changes throughout the story. It had a really good ending and lots of surprises that I was not expecting from the beginning of the book. Well worth your attention.

Cute Story and enjoyable

Definitely starts out slow, and drags a bit, but keep reading because about 2/3 the way through it gets really good. Gerty finds herself, she was always there but she comes out of her shell and is such a beautiful person. All around, I liked all the characters, the small town, and especially the knitting group. The one negative was the male voices. They were cringy and a bit irritating. Otherwise, recommend.
