One bid. One scandal. One unexpected chance at love.

Elizabeth Bennet never imagined that a charity auction at Netherfield could ruin her. But when George Wickham’s cruel jest makes her the subject of ridicule, her reputation—and her future—hang by a thread.

Then Fitzwilliam Darcy speaks. His voice cuts through the laughter with a single, shocking bid: five thousand pounds.

In an instant, Elizabeth’s honor is saved… but at what cost? Society insists they must marry, yet Darcy’s reserve and Elizabeth’s pride threaten to turn protection into a prison.

What begins as an arrangement born of necessity soon ignites into a battle of wills—and a passion neither can deny. Behind Darcy’s stern exterior lies a man of fierce devotion, and behind Elizabeth’s defiance beats a heart willing to risk everything for love.

Can a marriage born of scandal become a love worth any price?

A sweeping, steamy Pride & Prejudice variation filled with scandal, passion, and a love worth any price. Perfect for readers who want their Austen adaptations with heat, heart, and happily ever after.

I decided to not finish listening to this book, because it was overly repetitive. Elizabeth detected Darcy’s scent as sandalwood and something masculine that elicited a reaction several times in the 6 chapters I listened to. I’m half convinced this book was written by AI. Also, the settings and characters were only passingly similar to Jane Austen’s masterpiece. Darcy seems to be the owner of netherfield and has been for 7 years seemingly. Lady Catherine visited netherfield in a way that made it seem she lived nearby. There were several other inconsistencies from the book that differed to p&p too greatly to make it enjoyable. The plot itself seemed contrived. I have listened to many virtual voice audiobooks and while I don’t care for it overly much, it doesn’t bother me, but so saying, when the book itself is lacking the performance leaves much to be desired. I also cannot stress enough about proofreading before publishing! Subject verb agreement! Correct verb tense! It is cringeworthy when listening and you hear something so incorrect! Anyway, I do not recommend this book.
