Intended for a Younger Crowd

I live anything the V Schuab puts out. I even found this entertaining; however, it is intended for a younger crowd. I would say 5th grade and up. kinda mysterious, kinda spooky, but not the typical dark, gothic, bloody, action packed Schuab that I love!!

Riveting

Super good story from the beginning. Keeps you hooked all throughout. I really enjoyed the performance and I loved that she mentioned a bunch of verbiage the character found odd like saying biscuits instead of cookies and torch instead of flashlight because I’ve always found that odd too.

Charming, thrilling, and superbly narrated

um, i totally loved this!!!

I guess it shouldn't be surprising because it's Victoria Schwab after all, right? I knew it would probably be <i>good</i> but omg i had so idea how utterly charming and thrilling it would be.

After Cassidy Blake has a near-death experience, she gains the ability to see ghosts -- and a ghost best friend. Coincidentally, her parents are the writing duo behind the Inspecters paranormal mystery series, but they are in the dark about her ability. Her dad is big on hard facts and a no-nonsense non-believer in ghosts, while her mom loves the stories and is chipper in even the most ominous situations. When they land a TV show exploring the most famously haunted cities, Cassidy ends up spending her summer in Edinburgh and coming face-to-face with the famous Lady in Red.

The narration of this book was so excellent that I’m sure I enjoyed this book more than I would have on paper. She has a clear tone, good inflection, and natural sounding accents (they are in Edinburgh after all!)

Excellent narration!

This was a fun and unique ghost story! Had me guessing a little, even at the end. Love how it leaves room for more. The narration was beautiful. It really made the story come alive. Loved it!

THIS IS THE BEST BOOK EVER!!!!!!!

I just got done listening to it and the reader does such a good job with all of the accents and brings the story to life, i highly reccomend reading it!

Well layered

This story has lots of avenues it can continue down. She can globe trot, help ghosts cross over, or fight bad ghosts. This will make for an interesting series.

I got hooked

When the book first started I was skeptical about if I would enjoy it. But as soon at the first encounter with the veil took place I was interested. I definitely want to know what else will happen after this book ends so I got totally hooked.

In terms of an audio book I can be super picky in terms of the voice and cadence of the person narrating. Reba Buhr will definitely be added to my list of voices that can tell a good story.

Great spooky story for 10yrs and up

Loved this story. Jacob and Cassidy are enjoyable to follow. The mix of history , mystery and scares are well done. If looking for a spooky read for a young reader, that like a little history sprinkled in, is is a good choice. Ages 10 and up, maybe 9 are a good fit

fast paced, thrilling story with great characters and made by the beautiful mind of Victoria Schwab! I've absolutely lived every moment of reading this book and cant wait for book 2!!!!
