Christmas has arrived on Hope Island, promising snowflakes, surprises and plenty of romance. So snuggle up and fall in love with a brand-new story from the best-selling author of The Little Village of Happiness.

Growing up on Hope Island, Eden Lancaster always believed that if you wished hard enough for something, dreams really could come true. But Eden’s greatest wish is also her biggest secret: she has been in love with her childhood friend, the charming Dougie Harrison, for as long as she can remember. And he has no idea. When Dougie leaves his life in New York to return home to Hope Island for good, Eden can’t escape her feelings. Her heart is full of hope that her romantic dreams are finally going to come true....

This Christmas could change everything. But can a lifelong friendship really turn into the perfect romance? And will Eden get the happily ever after she’s always wished for?

I’m sorry to disparage the narrator for something she can’t control, but her voice is terrible. It might work for a different type of book, but as it’s nasally and childish it just enhanced awkwardly childish parts of this book, and made the juxtaposed attempts at adult situations more cringeworthy.

The idea was great, the execution was not. The plot was refreshingly different than a lot of the Christmas books but I think the author could have up-leveled the writing for an adult audience. A lot of it felt like the target audience was a tween and missed the mark on any account. While I appreciated the fact that the storyline jumped right into the thick of the plot, there was a ton of repetition and constant explaining of things the listener deduced 3 statements ago. I would listen to a rewrite of this book with the immature and repetitive edges smoothed out and definitely with another narrator.

Interesting concept but childish narrator and writing needs refinement to target audience
