Resumen del Editor

Machen's classic defense of orthodox Christianity established the importance of scriptural doctrine and contrasts the teachings of liberalism and orthodoxy on God and man, the Bible, Christ, salvation, and the church. Though originally published nearly seventy years ago, the book maintains its relevance today. It was named one of the top 100 books of the millennium by World magazine and one of the top 100 books of the century by Christianity Today.

It's a classic

I should have read it sooner. Everyone should read this book, whether liberal or conservative.

Fantastic and still relevant after all these years

While I know nothing is new under the sun it's still interesting to read authors from a former eta and see how they were dealing with some of the same issues in similar ways. This book is a must read for anyone struggling with the creeping liberal tendencies in the Christian faith. Specifically it will help challenge those tendencies in yourself and hopefully give you better answers. It's just a scratching of the surface but Machen had done a good job of shining light into some of the dark crevasses where man-centers pet theologies like to hide.

A must read for everyone in search of truth.

This book brings clarity to the issues of today’s problems. What is the truth and how can a person find and know they are hearing the truth? This book identifies what truth is and how to discern the truth from the lies. God said the truth will set you free.

Clear and full of candor

One of the fascinating things reading this book are his cultural critiques. So much has changed and nothing has changed all at the same time. 😂

Important!

Points out how alternative messages to Christ's own message have crept into the modern church. We are dealing with the consequences now of not heeding this warning when book was written!

True Christianity exposed

The point of view of this great man of the state of the church 20 years ago, is even more relevant today. There are some comprises that crucify Christ for a second time. Taking the word seriously is very important. It is great to hear such a scholarly approach to the soft and broad acceptance of a faulse gospal.

Christianity Plain and Clear

The main points of the christian faith are clearly exposed by Gresham Machen in order to refute liberalism. This work, though written in 1923, anticipates the controversies faced by christian churchs in recent time, as an effect of the development of liberals ideas. Christian ortodoxy, the author points, is chistianity plain and clear. Christian faith is not a mere way of life. It is a message based on facts and with an achievable meaning. The work great merit consist in explaining the christian message, pointing to the facts in with its based and giving its meaning.

Still so Timely

with great clarity the author provides analysis of the great woes in Christianity in the 1920's and 30's. and yet, he could have written it yesterday.

And then, after all is said, his concluding chapter gives great encouragement to those who are alive and face the battle week in and week out.
