Resumen del Editor

Chocolate always makes things better, or so Emily Harris believes until even a dozen boxes of her favorite chocolates can't put her world back together. Returning home from a trip to New Orleans, she is pushed down the airport's arrival escalator, and despite evidence to the contrary, she believes the push was deliberate. If this weren't enough, her lawyer husband begins to act strangely, her oldest son brings a tramp home as his girlfriend, and two friends are murdered. Simple sayings from her childhood thread their way through her thoughts as she struggles to identify the common denominator, even as she is confined to her home, munching on chocolates.

Filled with the warm southern ambience and gentle humor that author Annie Acorn has made famous, you won't want to miss this cliffhanger!

Story was OK, narration didn't help

I was able to receive this book by my request in exchange for my review. This wasn't my favorite. The story was OK, but I prefer to have the protagonist more actively involved. I get that this was supposed to be part of the suspense, but it just didn't build that way for me.
Unfortunately, the narration did not help the story. It felt like it was a bit robotic, especially when the female narrator tried to do male characters.

Good Idea

While I enjoyed the overall story and I really liked all the little detail, for this book it seemed to slow it down a bit. I feel like this mystery could of been about half the length. I would find myself wanting to keep reading and then I would feel a lull. I have enjoyed some other books by Annie Acorn. I enjoy her has an authour, but this story just did not do it for me in the way some of her other books have.

Meredith Mitchell did a good job narrating and has an easy voice to listen to. I would have liked a little more distinction in her voices and her guy voices were still a little too girly for me.

I received a copy of this book at my request, and I have voluntarily left this review.

Less is More

Chocolate Can Kill by Annie Acorn is a good book, but would have been great if it was shorter. Murder by chocolate is just wrong in my mind as it is a favorite food of mine! The story had great potential, but offered too many details and viewpoints. The imagery in the story was well done though, and I could envision a lot. I loved the list of likely suspects and how the murderer was revealed. I hadn't picked the right character, which is kudos to the author. Meredith Mitchell did a good performance with this book. She inflected the right emotions into the characters and gave them distinguishable voices. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review.

Very good

This was a very good audiobook. There are many twists and turns that I had to keep listening until the end. The narrator does a wonderful job reading it.

I didn't finish

I couldn't finish this nook. Emily Harris is self involved an annoying. The characters are flat and uninteresting.
